Gosh this has dragged on but happy to know that work will start soon.
Don't get too excited, it hasn't started yet, and they have a history of delays.
I'd be more surprised if it did start then if it got delayed again.

Has anyone else heard that the short list for this was:
- Multiplex
- Lend Lease
- Hansen Yuncken
With Hansen Yuncken winning the contract.
I think it was in Saturdays paper.
According to the announcement today no decision has been made yet.
Skycity are currently in contract negotiations with the preferred tender, which according to The Advertiser is Hansen Yuncken.

So true.
Admittedly I have never been to the casino, However from the many pictures I have seen online it has fallen a long way since Skycity took it over from the ASER/Genting Consortium(called Aitco, I think?). At least then it had a consistent theme.

Here was the article from the advertiser on Saturday. I'n not sure how credible 'off the record' is......

Skycity appear to be stalling again with this. They said that they would start construction in the first half of this year, but they still haven't confirmed the builder.

I wonder if there are any other operators out there who would take on the license should the State Gov grow a set and threaten to cancel the licence of the current operators. The current casino is a mess, and should be the jewel in the crown of the whole riverbank precinct. Also, we are getting to the point where everything else will be complete adjacent to the river side of Festival Plaza, and the casino will want to mess it all up again with their large construction. Time to rattle some cages.

Last time I checked we still have around two months to go in the first half of this year. Let's let this time pass before we start jumping at shadows.

Looks like something is happening, although it could be a red herring as i'm not sure how you can demolish something that is non-existing?

Ah, exciting... finally!
Assume this is to open the back (soon to be the front - façade facing the river) up?
