Federal project funding to 2021/22 on a state by state basis from the recent budget is outlined in the following document.

http://minister.infrastructure.gov.au/m ... spx#attach

Essentially, no construction money post Pym for the N/S corridor till after 2021/22.

The urban design for T2T is somewhat ordinary when compared the smooth bridge curves and urban design elements of the Gateway WA upgrade of Tonkin and Reid highways around Perth Airport.

That being said, I didn't several years ago envisage the scale of the upgrades now being delivered to 2021/22.

2/6/2018 - work on the bridge support columns on the corner of South Rd and Ayliffes Rd for the city bound fly-over. There is another set of columns on the opposite side (behind the camera).

so when t2t and Darlington are finished other than the northern connector which is basically being built on vacant land with no built up area the project essentially grinds to a halt??

Correct, unfortunately - nothing will be happening in 2020 as it stands.

Do you mean UNTIL 2020? Didn't they announce Regency to Pym would commence 2020, to be complete 2022? Wouldn't that just follow on from Darlington?

Not on the main North-South Motorway, but Oaklands Crossing will be in that timeframe I think. I didn't think of that a few days ago.

No announcement years in advance does not mean nothing will be happening.
There isn't even a proposal yet for what should be done for the remainder of the corridor.
Have they even finished their "studies"?
What exactly do you guys expect to happen, that the federal government will say yeh sure here you go have $10 billion for something nobody has any idea what it will even be yet.

That's sort of what it looks like happened for the rail link to Tullamarine - but the Federal Government has just paid Victoria for its share of Snowy Hydro, and is about to release a large tract of former Defence land for housing that will be worth more if there is a new railway line past it, which will offset the net cost of the Federal contribution.

I'm not sure we have as good a reason for the Federal government to decide it is in its own interest to throw money at the project - an easy way of transporting tanks etc from Keswick to Edinburgh?

The difference is Melbourne is growing at 100000 new residents per year, and Adelaide...maybe 10000 per year. If SA had a plan for rapidly growing its population, economy, and therefore a requirement for massive housing projects and transport links, it would also attract far more Federal funding. The Feds are literally throwing money at transport infrastructure like drunken sailors at present, and SA needs to get off its backside and start with some bold vision for the future or it will miss out again. I'm not sure though when I speak to friends and work mates back in Adelaide , that people there want it to grow too much, and so any state government with bold plans, or a rapid immigration programme would not have the support of the general population.

The Tulla rail link at least has several options on the table with estimates, we don't even have that for the corridor between T2T and Darlington.

We do have options Rev, it's just not publicly available knowledge and has literally been sitting on the DPTI bookshelves since at least 2012. I've seen some of the options; some are which are on the scale of the MATS plan. Everything that has eventuated thus far has always been the most politically palatable option, one that doesn't invoke community outrage in terms of the scale, land acquisition, route, etc.

Federal Government to the states via Infrastructure Australia: "We have 50 billion to allocate to urban rail". submit your concepts/plans ASAP.

Victorian Transport Minister: "Here you go, we were planning to duplicate the Tulla freeway, but if you are splashing some cash on urban rail, we wont need to spend so much on the freeway. Here are some 30 year old plans, plus some new options for you to consider, so we can build a few thousand more houses on your surplus land also.

SA transport minister: Can we have some money to finish the Gawler job Tony Abbot made us cancel, even though we wouldn't put up our share of the money anyway? Oh, and we might like to do Outer Harbor as well, but we're not sure if it is a tram or a train yet, or where the destination will be, or what growth we are expecting in this corridor- just give us the money anyway eh!

Infrastructure Australia: What about the N/S corridor. It is a Federal transport route, can we PLEASE give you some more money for this then?

SA Transport minister: Not yet, we're still negotiating with some land owners who spent millions building things on the corridor in the last 5 years. We don't know if we can entice them to move yet.

The art work/structure on the bridge over South Rd at Port Rd. This one is more complete than the one at Grange Rd.
