To clear up any confusion, there's a fourth tower on the same block as the bus station site at 100 Grote Street. This is a separate project and not related to the other five towers.beamer85 wrote:5 still:

You are talking about the 15-level hotel at the rear of the church. From what has been said it's not going ahead. One of the three apartment towers on the Bus Station site will be built there instead. Confusing, but that's what they are saying.AtD wrote:To clear up any confusion, there's a fourth tower on the same block as the bus station site at 100 Grote Street. Just saw Ch 10 news with a report on 'The Precinct'. It stated that demolition work for The Gallery would start next month. It also said that Stage 2 - one of the 18 storey buildings would go on sale in November.

I recorded it, but the recording unfortunately stuffed up as I was recording off the HD channel. Maybe Pun will have it
[CAN] Re: #UC: The Precinct - 5 19 lvl - 62m towers
I have a huge fear that when this is all complete it'll look too domineering, and resembalnt to the 'commie blocks' that are seen in inner suburbia of Sydney and Melbourne.
[CAN] Re: #UC: The Precinct - 5 19 lvl - 62m towers
^^ Being Urban Construct I can't see that happening. The finish on their projects is superior to any cheap high density housing.

I'd agree... just going on this render here, it won't look like some cheap commie block.

Article in Today's paper with a render i have not seen yet. On page 11, black and white only.
Can't see any info on Adelaidenow to be able to post here. So i wrote it out here as i don't have a scanner sorry....
A $70 million, 18 storey contempory apartment complex will be built in the next stage of the old Balfours site redevelopment. The announcement of the second release come as the developers report more than 80 per cent of the first stage, The Gallery, have been sold. Homes in the towering precinct, to be known as Altitude, will go on sale early next month. The buliding is part of the $600 milllion Precinct redevolpment, on the corner of Franklin and Morphett streets - a joint venture between Urban construct and Multiplex.
It will comprise of 138 apartments and will be constructed in a " pin-wheel " design to maximise apartments views across the Adelaide city, hills, and coast.

Thanks for typing that up Brando, that can be a real pain when you can't get it electronically. Here is a scan from the paper, as you said it was only in black and white in the paper:
This is the tower nearest to the Gallery building I am guessing and the view is a southerly perspective. It looks great. Nice design for an apartment tower. These will get snapped up in no time. I wish I could afford one, the views would be amazing. I guess this one will start early next year. Urban Construct and Multiplex have proven their quick turn around times with Newport Quays and given Adelaide's rising house prices this precinct may develop quicker than first expected.

Wow, that looks great, I am very pleased with the architectural quality of recent residential projects in Adelaide, in particular the Urban Construct ones. The views from this building would be amazing.
[CAN] Re: #UC: The Precinct - 5 19 lvl - 62m towers
This is the corner where previously planned was the Balfours Brick feature open space. Does this mean this is no longer and there is now an additional tower?
[CAN] Re: #UC: The Precinct - 5 19 lvl - 62m towers
i would be disappointed to see the brick feature removed as it looks quite effective
[CAN] Re: #UC: The Precinct - 5 19 lvl - 62m towers
That render looks fantastic! Where do I sign up?
