If you don't count the University of Adelaide, the University of South Australia, Rundle Street, the Botanic Gardens, Rymill Park, The National Wine Centre, museum & art gallery, and our two soon-to-be tallest buildings, it guess it might go to nowhere (!). No doubt in a few months the popularity of the service will see stories of overcrowding and calls for the completion of a city loop. My concern is that if this extension remains as a shuttle service for years to come it will mainly be a means for transporting students, tourists and others who are simply using it as an excuse not to walk, all in all a low priority. Adelaide is growing and as we talk about on other threads it desperately needs investment in rapid transit to replace our massive over-reliance on the automobile - complete the electrification of the rail system, faster light rail to growth areas - Prospect, etc., many more dedicated bus-only express lanes, and extension of the electrified rail system out to Aldinga, and preserving a rail corridor to the future growth area between Salisbury and Virginia.

I won't quote the article at all, but it's supposed to be about 'looking at the reasons why it's gone "off the rails"'. Do you think they've done any actual journalism? Followed up on any of the kinds of problems we've been discussing in this thread? No, of course not. It's all just conjecture, a timeline of their past coverage, and a couple of quotes from Koutsantonis and Knoll blaming each other.

No surprise, they've deleted my comment on the article.

Does the Advertiser really need to drudge out opinionated headlines like "tram to nowhere"? Clearly it's not to nowhere given it connects our major institutions along North Tce, the East End, Botanic Gardens, two new tallest apartment buildings under construction, and our biggest renewal site.

Instead, focus on investigating what the actual causes for the various issues and delays are (you know, journalism, not conjecture) and provide us with something that actually informs, not inflames.

I know inDaily have copped a little flak with some of the right-leaning articles of late (and rightly so), but their article was far more balanced than the disgrace that was the Advertiser article.

New tram timetable for 29 July onwards is now on the Adelaide Metro website.
New tram stop names are:

• Festival Plaza
• Art Gallery
• University
• Botanic Gardens*

Normal Mon-Fri services are:
- Glenelg / RAH (old West Terrace) - every 10 mins
- Botanic Gardens / Entertainment Centre - every 10 mins
(No trams at all to Festival Plaza stop on Mon - Fri.)

Saturday & Sunday daytime:
- Glenelg / RAH - every 20 mins
- Glenelg / Festival Plaza - every 20 mins
(even 10 minute headway on "main line" between Rundle Mall & Glenelg)
- Botanic Gardens / Entertainment Centre - every 10 mins

* on a pedantic note, the correct name should be Botanic Garden (with no "s").
DPTI avoided this mistake a few years ago when they correctly naming the new Showground (no "s") station, but weren't so lucky with the new tram stop.

Looks like there's an odd tram that occasionally does the full Glenelg <-> Ent Centre route. Not sure what the point is of throwing those in the mix other than to add confusion.

And speaking of confusion, whoever did the timetable needs a slap on the back of the head. They've combined all the routes into a single timetable, portraying the Ent Centre to RAH, Railway Station to Botanic Garden(s), and Rundle Mall to Festival Plaza all as spurs. It's a complete unreadable mess.
