I really hope Forme Projex haven't bought this site otherwise we will be getting a whole block of bland, cheap, 5 level boxes.

Formes is the one doing the swathe of developments around Hurtle Square yeah?

They're not that bad. What they put up would be better suited to either Mawson Lakes, Glenelg or Port Adelaide, but not our CBD. I hope they at least put up a decent proposal for this site that isn't an 8 storey box.

Sturt Street gate is open and there is a scissor lift on site.

Yep, I walked past a few days ago and the gate was open with a truck and bobcat inside. I also noticed an area near the eastern structure that was levelled out into a large padtimtam20292 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 07, 2018 3:56 pmSturt Street gate is open and there is a scissor lift on site.
made with cracker dust.
Just a stab in the dark, but maybe they plan to use it as paid car parking in the interim?? That's what the old building was used for before it was demolished.

Charter hall mentioned in a recent article they had acquired a development site that is similar in size to city central. I thought it would either be this site or southern cross arcade.

Nothing to see here. A nice car park 10 trucks of Dolomite and a few passes with a roller.

Plus Old Mayfield looking very tied and tacky. Yes the gate was open.

I work near this site and look down on it every day. From that last photo, was that frame structure the beginnings of the new development that is now on hold? I also walked past recently and noticed the display room has been closed and a new builders name wrapped around the building. It also appeared that the remaining letters and wording on the exterior of the display building are being pulled off or have just fallen off.

walked past this last week and there seemed to be some activity - couldn't see much due to fences but this looked hopeful (and recent!)

The site has been used as a works depot for the tram works in King William Street. Unfortunately nothing to do with the Mayfield development as far as I know.

That sign actually says "Construction Commencing 2014"but the "2014"part was ripped off.
[CAN] Re: New Mayfield | 41-61m | 11-17lvls | Mixed Use
I had the same momentary hopes when I walked past the other week until I realised (as noted by baytram366) that it was just being used in relation to the KWS upgrades - the gate was open but all the activity was on the open ground, and nothing on the actual foundations of the now abandoned development.
