Yes rev. She's a beauty. I've flown the A350-900 to Rome, Amsterdam and from Hong Kong. Soon I'll be off again to Milan and then back from Rome in one of these and probably a few more places in 2019 still with SQ or possibly other Star Alliance carriers. The difference is the one's I have flown have all been three class with Premium Economy as well.

The A350 is more comfortable and gives the impression of more spaciousness. There's more room for handheld luggage. This is due to the use of composites in the airframe. The A350-900 is also quieter. The IFE is much, much better and it uses a touch screen. Hopefully soon you'll be off in one of these on SQ and enjoying the top notch SIA service.

We will be getting the Regional config A350-900's.

They'll only have Business and Economy, no Premium Economy.

Seating is 1-2-1 and 3-3-3 respectively.

The Regional A350's are still in build. Rego's will be 9V-SH_

The long-haul A350's (the ones already in operation) are 9V-SM_

The ULR's (due shortly) are 9V-SG_

Could we possibly see China Eastern start a direct Shanghai-Adelaide service in the near future? or even China Airlines to Taipei? Cheers

Will this new plane make the trip shorter? As someone that hates flying even 10 mins shorter would be appreciated :D

Are you serious Ben? I know you are joking. Technically the only way you'll get there quicker is if you get favourable weather conditions. A tailwind so to speak. Just ten minutes... I love that! :D

The Shanghai route would be excellent with China Eastern. Another gateway into China. I guess the people at Adelaide Airport are working on it. That's my opinion. China Eastern is set to trial Perth to Shanghai flights in October. Hopefully they'll trial flights here too after that. It would be good if we could set the same target as Perth of 100,000 Chinese visitors. That's what the WA Government is aiming for by 2020. Probably not realistic for Adelaide, but if we did that up to 2024 or thereabouts it would be great.

As for Taipei, I doubt China Airlines will come here in the short-medium term. They're more interested in the eastern seaboard.

MAVCOM (Malaysia Aviation Commission) have awarded Malindo Air 7 weekly flights to operate Kuala Lumpur-Denpasar-Adelaide from December 2018.

Its up to the airline if the wish to use these slots. but sounds like they intend to start the route. Watch this Space...

This is fantastic news and much needed competition on the Adelaide-Bali route. I tried Malindo last year, and for a LCC they are very good. It will also be nice to see an affordable business class introduced back onto this route.

When Virgin/Tiger dropped out of the route, Jetstar instantly and blatantly doubled their fares (which they have every right to do), but hopefully this will bring back the $300-$400 return fares to Bali.

Fingers crossed they are a bit creative with their schedule and do away with the awful overnight flight back home!

Between 2002 and 2016 Lion Air Group(Malindo is a subsidiary) has had 11 crashes or crash landing. One incident where a plane hit a cow on landing.
Last year they had an oil spill on the tarmac with passengers on board, fuel pouring out of the wing.
In April a Malindo flight overshot the runway because the crew aborted take off.

In 2015 they had 53 routes revoked, as they weren't even authorized to be flying on those routes. It took a fatal crash for Indonesian authorities to actually do something.

Yeh, fantastic to have such a dodgy airline group possibly flying here.

Yeh but the fares will be cheap right...?

I believe they've had the latest bovine-radars installed since then, so no need to worry.

Yeh but the fares will be cheap right...?

I believe they've had the latest bovine-radars installed since then, so no need to worry.
New equipment doesn't make up for poor maintenance and training.

This is why I said "Oh dear". Any of the low-cost carriers from Indonesia and Malaysia need to be scrutinised carefully. That also includes Air Asia. Perhaps not only for safety reasons but also when it comes to on time performance and compensation. I'll accept Malindo Air flying the route suggested but I will never fly them.
