[CAN] New Courts Precinct | $500m
[CAN] Re: New Courts Precinct | $500m
No it's just the Advertiser giving time to an attention seeker crying that he and his corrupt Chinese government pals couldn't bribe the State Government into giving them the contract to build the new court precinct and turn the area into a shanty town with 6,000 apartments.

In lieu of a new complex and to keep the courts functional, $31 million facelift planned to add rooms and improve/repair facilities:
Adelaide's clogged court buildings to get $31 million 'compromise' upgrade
Tom Fedorowytsch, ABC News Online, 14 August 2018
A $31 million "compromise" upgrade of Adelaide's chronically overcrowded courts precinct will deliver nine new courtrooms and a shiny entrance lobby on Gouger Street.
Key points:
The works will take in the historic Supreme Court building, on the corner of Gouger and King William streets, and the Sir Samuel Way building which fronts onto Victoria Square.
- Three brand new courtrooms and upgrades to six others
- Chief Justice says the project will help clear case backlogs
- Construction expected to start late this year and finish in 2020
Chief Justice Chris Kourakis told the ABC the plan comes after the abandonment of a massive new court building under the Weatherill government.
"A $400 million proposal for a court complex to house Supreme Court and District Court courtrooms wasn't funded some years ago," he said.
"This is a compromise which will give us at least the functionality if not the standard of work that was to be offered before."
The upgrade will create three new criminal jury courtrooms on the top level of the Sir Samuel Way building, and fix up six old and "dilapidated" courtrooms in the Supreme Court building.
"There is a backlog in crime in particular because of a lack of courtrooms," the Chief Justice said.
"The purpose is to ensure we have enough courtrooms to deal with our lists."

I saw that. It’s permanent fencing too. Why would they do that in such a prominent location!
[CAN] Re: New Courts Precinct | $500m
Probably because nothing is going to happen on the site for quite a while. Cheaper to put a proper fence up instead of hire temporary fencing indefinitely.

A friend told me the fencing has been put up so they can use that blank area as a worksite during the courts redevelopment. I guess that makes some sense

They have cut down a number of trees and are clearing the land today.
Edit: Portable buildings set up on the land now.

Hansen Yuncken signage up all around said fencing. This is a construction site.

I hope so. To have large vacant blocks of land in the middle of a capital city is a bit embarrassing especially since its on the main street.

I really like how this one started without 5 media announcements over the past 6 months. No promises of all the bells whistles plus a fairy on top.
The first we knew of it was some fences being assembled around plus some Hansen and Yuncken signage to boot.
Ahhh, a breath of fresh air.
