[PRO] 164-180 Hindley Street | ~75m | 22 Levels | Hotel

From what I can guess, it looks as if the the three windows / column breaks on the west side will be the part of the hotel to be demolished.
Nice simple sleek glass tower design. However, I fear there will be a monstrous 80m blank wall on the western side.

The tower looks set back on its podium so hopefully not a blank western façade.
It's certainly an improvement to what's there, but this design firm is a little unknown so I guess further details will reveal the expected quality.

I was expecting a modular design given that Intro seem to be designing a lot of those. That tower looks fine, so it's a good result compared to the hit and miss modular designs. I don't adore the renovation to the existing part, but that seems to be the style and it's definitely an improvement on what's there. A welcome development to spread the city density further west.

I am wondering whether this proposal will give impetus in the West End to those never-got-off-the-ground-projects like the apartments surrounding the old Heaven site. Maybe the opening of the new RAH will get that one back in the "maybe" category. Time will tell.

Not sure if this work is related to this project, but there appears to be green scaffolding around parts of the lower levels of the main building.

Part of the roof on the top floor level has been removed. I am not sure what is happening on this site. Is this part of the redevelopment or just repairs? 18/11/2018.

I really hope this has commenced. It'll add to the transformation of Hindley St West.

The current hotels instagram page states that a swimming pool area refurbishment is underway.
I don't think these works are related to the proposed development

I agree, Ben hasn’t let us know (and neither has the DAC) that this development has been approved either.

Unfortunately I don't think the development is going ahead at this point in time.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but some structures went up on the roofdeck of the Rockford, which I'd guess will be the only addition we'll see to this site for quite some time:
