The pub next door to this building site is closing, claiming access for deliveries has been blocked by the construction works.

Now I know the owners took over this pub at one stage believing all the student accomodation around them would provide customers (the barman/owner/business partner told me this one night in the main bar.)
I don't want to sound cynical but if you really wanted to keep your business afloat surely you would make every effort to keep deliveries rolling in.......and where would the building workers drink 3-30 to 6pm? At your pub.....
I wonder if this pub was struggling before the student accomodation started going up next door, its hard to know unless owners are willing to open the books and show journalists the cash flow over the period pre construction next door.

June 2017 Streetview shows a long loading zone on Gray Street back a bit from the pub that seems to be covered by construction in the later images. June 2017 also shows a Coopers truck stopped in front of the pub on Currie Street unloading beer kegs without a painted loading zone around it. Other images show that in fact there is a short loading zone there, probably long enough to park a mini in. If the Coopers truck could use it in 2017 when there was a long zone in Gray Street, I don't really see why it couldn't continue to use the Currie Street zone to deliver the beer this year too. There also appears to be space for five cars on what appears to be the pub's property immediately west of the main building. Maybe that is used as staff or disabled parking, but I'm sure they could arrange for it to be empty at a designated time to receive deliveries if necessary.PeFe wrote: ↑Tue Sep 25, 2018 11:44 pmThe pub next door to this building site is closing, claiming access for deliveries has been blocked by the construction works.

The guy probably just didn't have deep enough pockets to ride it out.

Leaning towards this theory.
You'd think the Council would have put more thought into approving the Builders application than "thats ok, they can just roll their kegs 100 metres".

There was momentarily 3 cranes at Gray St before the new hammer head crane began to dismantle the previous southern crane. See also crane page.

Can someone explain why this is happening?
Quite puzzled by this.

Northern luffing crane must have penetrated the PANOPS limit when fully elevated. Would make sense with that crane being closer to the flight path.

I really like the idea of the 1% levy to support small businesses. Great article.
