This one is finishing off really well. Looks to be one of the best apartment layouts and finishes around.

Posting here because it's not officially proposed yet, but the next stage of this precinct has hit a potential road block. The developer Greaton wants to build above the old Balfours brick façade whereas the community plan requires it to be retained as public open space. I believe a motion to amend the community plan did not receive enough votes from the body corporate (Altitude and Gallery apartments) to proceed as proposed. Here is the design:

Sorry btw for the low-res but these are copies of low quality print.

As far as the design goes, the tower is either interesting or messy. It's 13 storey / 52 metres with an unknown number of residences but at least one commercial level. I think it would be acceptable to lose the open space as Light Square and parklands are very nearby, although I think the way they've envisaged the enclosed plaza is a bit uninteresting and would myself have imagine something more like Bowden's Plant 4. But there may be other issues in terms of who bears the ongoing maintenance and security costs.

I do agree they could do something great with space. I do like the look of the design, but I've seen far too may halfway decent renders, and honestly shit at best end results, to get my hopes too high.

Are you sure that’s a new proposal? The failed urban construct proposal for this site was called the loft on Franklin.

Yeah, it's a new design though I also thought it was odd that they were calling it the same thing. From memory, the Urban Construct proposal was a 7 level version of Gallery apartments and was not to be built over the plaza.

Yes. I own an apartment in Altitude and was asked to vote on the changes to the community plan as per the above post.

So just to be clear, there is still going to be at least one more tower facing Franklin St but a tower on the Morphett St & Franklin St corner looks unlikely (if it is community open space)?

Would anyone else like to see a 100m+ tower on that corner instead? A real centrepiece for the whole area.

Correct. And there’ll eventually be another building on Elizabeth St past West Franklin too.

Any idea if they've secured a cafe and supermarket chain as yet?

The Coffee club have been secured. There's rumours about a smaller Woolworth store also being a tennant
but I haven't seen anything definite about this.
