The developers have responded to some of the re-presentations made, and have as a result made some changes to the building which address some complaints. For example garbage collection will now take place on Peel Street, instead of Gilbert place, and also for the first 2 levels, the elevators will be obscured by textured concrete, to prevent people in the elevator seeing into the neighbouring residential property. Also, Peel Street will remain open during construction minimizing the impact to the businesses along that street.beamer85 wrote:I wouldn't get too confident yet there are a lot of nearby residents and business owners who want to speak at the meeting and i doubt you would go out of your way to say something positive about a development. Hopefully this won't effect the decision though.

Even though the building violates the airport flight path by around 60m, its height has nevertheless being approved by DOTARS.

Further good news is that the building will be illuminated at night to highlight its sculptured form.

Awesome fingers crossed this project will be one of the most, if not the most exciting built since the building of the festival theatre.

This will be great for the industry, hopefully a local firm gets the contract. All these projects must be putting a squeeze on the supply of both materials and labour.

Good news Will. But can we have faith in the developers actually pulling though? Looking at their website this would be by far their biggest project.

I hope this building doesn't get dumbed down... Adelaide just won't be the same without Westpac dominating the skyline not a bad thing at all imo. Howie where did you get those shots?

This will be the most significant change to the skyline since the State Bank (that's what I'll always call it, damnit!) building was built! Would be nicer if it was another 10 or 20 metres taller though.Punishment466 wrote:Look at poor old Santo... Uhh, Westpac hiding behind it .
I'm shocked that it's been recommended for approval and really don't know what I'll think if it gets approved!
