Unless you have no other alternative to driving you are adding more to city congestion than any almost any other factor.

I guess every now and then GHS feels the need to rattle the SA cage to get a response - and it always works.
There has never been a better time to be interested in Adelaide CBD development - Kodo is the tallest for 30 years and there are now 3 under construction that are taller and another 2-4 in prep (Currie St and KWS corner and Festival Plaza) or potentially underway (Nth Tce and Twin St student buildings). Today on two city blocks near each other, the two tallest ever built in Adelaide are underway, each up to 11-12 levels and both starting to have an impact. After 30 years!
These will rejuvenate the Adelaide skyline from the boring pyramid layout that was so beloved by the ACC. So spending a few minutes in traffic to witness this change to Adelaide's appearance and increasing overnight population is a pretty low price to pay after those decades of not a lot happening.

Meanwhile back at the building site, a picture from today (5/3/2019) looking from Rundle St. Now working on level 13.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I prefer more refined developments.
Lets do a comparison :
The new Unisa building on north terrace is 12 levels and they spent $246 million.
The Adelaidean is a 37 level building and they're spending a poultry $100 million.

One is an educational and medical building. The other is residential.

The cost of plasterboard and carpet for apartments is far less than sophisticated medical equipment and laboratories. We wouldn’t expect you to take note of anything other than an attention grabbing headline though.

Let's do another comparison :
Adelaidean - 37 levels - $100 million
Sofitel Hotel - 33 levels - $140 million
I'll take quality over quantity, any day of the week.

Think the same about your posts really
[COM] Re: 11 Frome Street | 135m | 37 Levels | Crowne Plaza / Adelaidean | New tallest
Unless that Sofitel has apartment sized rooms that's a pretty meaningless comparison.
[COM] Re: 11 Frome Street | 135m | 37 Levels | Crowne Plaza / Adelaidean | New tallest
In general, how would the cost of extra bathrooms in a hotel compare to extra kitchens in apartments?
I have no idea what the actual components of the cost of a tower are. Even the number of lifts and stairwells could contribute to the cost per floor. I also don't know if the "total" cost of the building is measuring fair comparisons in both cases.
What are the aspects of Adelaidean that you consider have been scrimped on?

You all get so riled up by GHS, just ignore him and he will become lost in amongst all the constructive posts on this thread.
Getting back on topic, the speed of this construction has been impressive, any chance of Realm taking a temporary 'new tallest' title appears to be gone. The facade treatment insofar is looking real nice, which is critical for what is a pretty bland design. By no means is this a masterpiece but if what we've seen so far is anything to go by, Adelaidean will be a welcome addition to the Adelaide skyline.

The builder is also the developer on this one. So no builders margins on everything

Not sure if it’s been noted or can be seen in this photo, but there’s an interesting triangle pattern in the glass
