Evening all,

I know this doesn't mean much to some, however Qatar announced today that they will introduce their world class Q-suite on the Doha-Adelaide route from August 16th.

Emirates got rid of First Class coming into Adelaide. Maybe Qatar is hoping to pick up some premium traffic from those prepared to pay a little more.

It will be interesting to see how A350 and Q-suites stack up against B777 and refurbished Business Class for Emirates.

Bali getaway made easier — new direct Adelaide service.
Malindo Air Malaysian airline Malindo Air has launched direct flights from Adelaide to Bali just days after Jetsar announced it would increase daily flights to the tourist hotspot.

Pay wall.

For flights to KL, if you want to have luggage included, they're only about $10 cheaper than MH, and MH have double the luggage allowance.

It's actually only 5kg of luggage. I expect to see many a bogan that hasn't read the terms and conditions to get a rude awakening at the airport.

I was tempted myself to break my vow never to go to Bali and then I saw the baggage limit. Oh dear

Experiment to grow crops at Adelaide Airport...
The article explains all....

From In Daily
Why Adelaide Airport has been growing crops next to its runway

A business case is being finalised for a project to grow a commercial farm crop to reduce runway air temperatures at Adelaide Airport.

Image
The trial lucerne planting at Adelaide Airport has proven to reduce ambient air temperatures by more than 3C on warm days.
Trials at Adelaide Airport in conjunction with state-owned utility SA Water have been ongoing for the past three years and have shown the cooling effects of lucerne can drop air temperatures by more than 3C on warm days.

In warmer, less dense air, planes must travel faster down the runway to produce the lift needed for take-off. When a runway lacks the distance required to reach these speeds, a plane’s weight must be lowered by removing passengers, luggage and cargo. This reduces profit for the airline.

This is a great idea, can it be extended to other open spaces (that are not parks?) For example, stormwater channels, railways and the River Torrens.

The airport example shows why the city parklands should be better maintained. If they put the right plants in and regularly irrigate, it will go a long way to lowering the urban heat island effect in the city.
