Attached is a mock up of option C. as described in previous post.

Concept includes a 20,000 - 25,000 seat stadium; a 12,000 seat arena (tennis / basketball / netball / concerts) with retractable roof; fitness / health /wellbeing centre; and the current tennis centre with the proposed half-assed renovation.

A. See my above post.

B. The village green popped collar crowd don't go to the cricket for the cricket, they go to drink and socialize. They'll socialize and drink wherever the Village Green is.
There's no room on Oval 2 anyway for a proper stadium.

C. The building is heritage listed I think.

Memorial Drive should be upgraded, no doubt about that, indoor venue for tennis, NBL, netball..
Parklands directly east of Adelaide Oval. If they have $700 million to play with, $250 for Memorial Drive, throw the remaining $450 million into that area, build a plaza over King William Road and a rectangular stadium in the parklands there, second pedestrian bridge over the river towards the parade ground, and improve/upgrade the surrounding parklands. If they hadn't built a new swim center at Marion, they could rip up Pinkys flat and build a swim center and aquarium there, and we'd have a pretty decent sporting precinct that most cities would be envious of.

An integrated over the rail yard stadium will not work too many sports and the layout would not cater well for all sports.

An integrated roofed stadium for tennis, basketball, netball and concerts is a must and makes absolute sense. A boutique soccer/rugby stadium would be a nice to have

Locations are hard but I think Memorial Drive is best for multi purpose venue and east of Adelaide Oval for Soccer/Rugby stadium. Given they are planning on moving the Women’s and children’s hospital they could close that road opposite Adelaide Oval.

Also if they sold the netball centre in mile end, the basketball centre in Beverly, the entertainment centre and Hindmarsh stadium in Hindmarsh they would get back a reasonable amount in land value alone.

It’s all doable but location, design need to be determined.

A steep 3 tiered roofed basketball stadium is what’s needed that caters for netball, tennis, concerts etc with one of those tiers being a corporate box tier between the 2 seating tiers. Please no weird non symmetrical stadium like Perth Arena. Needs to be at least 15000 upto 20000.

When are they going to get on with this one? Work has already started at Melbourne Park on a new open air arena.

Just seen a tweet from Tennis SA CEO.. Big announcement tomorrow for “tennis in SA, make that Australia. An absolute game changer.”

Maybe more than just the roof happening? Hence the lack of work so far?

Wouldn’t get too excited yet ... might be the announcement of a major long-term sponsorship for the new ATP Cup?

Adelaide becoming an ATP500 or 1000 event, as opposed to the 250 events Brisbane and Sydney were, perhaps?

All it says is they have started work on the roof.

It mentions that after the coming summer they might demolish the northern stand and rebuild it, which apparently they'll be able to do without removing the roof so I guess it's not going to be suspended to the existing stands. And a lot of talk about what they might do after the roof basically. Supposedly they are finalizing a master plan.

And yada yada its' good for junior development.

Will be interesting how they eventually manage an upgrade or total redevelopment as per the original renders, while maintaining an ATP tournament.

Will this roof be good for anything once/if the place is bulldozed and a multipurpose arena built in its place? It would be such a waste otherwise.

Multipurpose arena is most likely to be built elsewhere.

If we are to build an arena over 10,000 seats, it will also require the demolition of Next Gen and the Indoor Cricket Centre as well as Memorial Drive.
