Looks like the site of the old music store, at the South-West corner of Light Square. Called “The Cullinan”, looks like an apartment development of approx 15-16 levels.

Thanks to Smithy85 for the heads up.

That's the old John Reynold's site yeah? Enjoying the renders!

Going to be a fairly decent population in that area if this and the West Franklin student accommodation get over the line.

Anyone else think it looks a bit like the 123 Flinders Street proposal (before it became the mysterious 207 Pulteney)?
I wonder if the architects are the same (Pruszinski)?

It seems this is the same developer as Central Adelaide on Grote Street. They used Brown Falconer there. They also relied quite heavily on Chinese investment to get Central off the ground, which hopefully has the silver lining here of Oaks not being involved and an apartment tower on this block finally contributing more significantly to permanent population. Looks good, hopefully happens sooner rather than later.

I agree - Hopefully this goes up very soon. It will add further height to this part of the city. The brick work is a nice feature.

Love the brick work on this one, will be a great density filler!

Is there a DA for this yet? I agree with everyone's sentiments. It looks quite nice.
[U/C] Re: 181 Waymouth Street | ~60m | 17 Levels | Apartments
Not yet. Second proposal advertised this week without a da. Might be a new trend. Not going through the process unless they have enough interest.
[U/C] Re: 181 Waymouth Street | ~60m | 17 Levels | Apartments
Mate, without being rude, who is going to buy an apartment in a building which doesn't have approval ?
Also which is the other proposal that hasn't been approved yet ?
[U/C] Re: 181 Waymouth Street | ~60m | 17 Levels | Apartments
As a buyer, this is as big a red flag as they come.
[U/C] Re: 181 Waymouth Street | ~60m | 17 Levels | Apartments
This project looks heavily targeted to Chinese. They are probably less likely to worry about a da than locals due to not understanding the process.
Other project is office development on Frome in the general cbd development thread.
[U/C] Re: 181 Waymouth Street | ~60m | 17 Levels | Apartments
The developer has set up his own architecture firm with his sister (or sister-in-law, not 100% clear which).

I can't find the original renders, but it appears design development has led to a more basic look with new renders up on the website now. It's not hideous, but it's no longer as elegant as I remember the first concepts.

Yup, it's changed quite a bit. No more arches that reference the Atlantis warehouse building across the lane. There's some nice detailing around the edges of the brickwork though, and it even looks like the upper (concrete?) has angled chamfers which could look quite good if they get the texture of the concrete right and consistent.
