I just wish they'd finished the current stage of the North Terrace redevelopment and get started on the western extent. The streetscapes of the new King William St and North Terrace are as handsome, or more so, than any Australian capital.

I would like to see some other attractive tramways before I start bragging that ours looks the best. Still, I think we've got something to be proud of here.

whatever happened to form follows function, it could be the most beautiful tram system ever made, but the service could be shit (and knowing Adelaide it will be). I much prefer practicality than aesthetics a good example is in germany, the Düsseldorf stadtbahn is fugly, but services are efficient, on time and there is good passenger information available. The rollingstock is about 20-30 years old, but it has been maintained well and works way better than anything Adelaide Metro has.

It would be a good highlight if adelaide did win that "most attractive tramway" thing, but the award will probably go to Melbourne or Sydney the officials will probably ignore Adelaide.

I disagree. Stuttgart's system looks a lot better than Berlin's system, especially the look of the stations, track surrounds and cleanliness. I also think that cleaner systems also promote more use, making the system more efficient.

Id say get all the buses out of the city, and replace the majority of them with tram routes instead.

Being in Melbourne and catching them into the city made me realise that having bugger all buses and heaps of trams in the city made it much easier to commute between the city and inner metro (and around the city). Even in peak hour it took like 10 min to get from heart of the city to 6km out in the metro at st kilda. Compare that to a 30-40 min bus ride on the M44 to travel 6km in peak hour towards marion. You do the math...
