[SWP] 10 Anzac Highway | Forestville | Mixed Use
[SWP] Re: 10 Anzac Highway | Kaufland Supermarket
Crazy how these only apply in the Greater Adelaide Shopping District or a Proclaimed Shopping District as defined in the legislation. In Murray Bridge awhile back and raced into supermarket at 4.50pm. Everyone seemed relaxed and asked staff when they closed. 10pm she said looking at me strange!

Drove past on Anzac Highway yesterday. The whole front facade has been completely removed and the building is unrecognisable.
I'd say once they have completed any further necessary preparatory work full demolition will be very fast, as it's basically just a shed without the facade.
Seems a bit odd to be sad about a shed being demolished, but it's been such a high profile part of Adelaide for so long, I will be a little bit.
Really looking forward to seeing Kaufland though!

Thank you for the update.
I wonder when they'll start building Kaufland?
[SWP] Re: 10 Anzac Highway | Kaufland Supermarket
Stupid question here. I know the Chrysler brick signs on Leader and Maple are going to be preserved and relocated, is the black Chrysler facade on ANZAC Hwy being retained too? I’m doubtful but it would certainly be a unique interior feature.

The LeCornu sign was removed yesterday and was apparently offered to the Unley Council but they declined...

Just found this, as the LeCornu store (and the famous sign) come down.
I find this sort of thing fascinating for some reason!

Although kinda iconic in the history of S.A, this site is a good example of the rejuvenation happening around Adelaide. Along with sites such as the old Bridgestone factory on South Road (now a Bunnings) and that dilapidated brown brick building on corner of Anzac Highway and Cross Roads (granted, only turned into a servo).

I take your point but don't think former manufacturing hubs becoming big-box retail hubs are particularly good examples of rejuvenation. Tonsely and Bowden are probably more indicative of true revitalisation, and hopefully the Caroma site on Magill Road (currently selling) and Hill's demolished site at Castle Plaza soon follow.Jaymz wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2019 6:21 pmAlthough kinda iconic in the history of S.A, this site is a good example of the rejuvenation happening around Adelaide. Yes, granted. But what's replacing those sites I mentioned is obviously a big improvement on what was there before..... and without the State Govt. kicking in funds and/or incentives to make it happen.

Probably a better example of rejuvenation is the demolition of the Clipsal factory in Bowden, and it's ongoing replacement with a major and distinctive residential development.
Another is the redevelopment of the old RAH, and yet another the replacement of Underdale university with a high quality new residential region.
