Demolition commenced today at the site of stage 4 of Hurtle & Co on the Eastern side of Hurtle Square. Note this isn’t the Beaurepaires site on Pulteney St as that is stage 5

Can anyone explain why the developer of these low-rise buildings at Hurtle Square are allowed to block off entire roadways for their construction sites? Hurtle & Co just down from this has literally blocked up that whole corner both in terms of parking and thoroughfare, the development across the road did the same...

I’m guessing safety for the public & possibly also to allow room for say semi-trailer deliveries of concrete panels/tilt up walls etc. If cars were parked along there they would hinder or stop access in or out of the site & hold up the build.

From memory (and I think a variation or two has been lodged as it's been so long in gestation, including deletion of a roof garden) it's going to be very similar to the block next door as I'm fairly sure it's the same people behind it. Six or seven level apartment building which I think steps down to three levels or so at the back.

The building is on the boundary on the West, South, North (with power lines) sides. How do you think they could erect precast panels, structural steel work and load materials onto the floors? Helicopter or sky hooks?
