I'm sorry, but how on earth did the MCG make it to the top of that list? The venue is awful, both in terms of facilities and atmosphere. And not to mention the pitch is terrible. What moron at Foxtel came up with that?

If you're going for a South African cricket ground, choosing a rugby stadium over the Wanderers? Seriously?

Newlands is also (a separate) cricket ground and is overlooked by Devil's Peak, part of Table Mountain. Wanderers is in Johannesburg. Although a nice ground it doesn't have the awesome backdrop.

And Eden Gardens at number 2.Patrick_27 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 31, 2020 2:21 amI'm sorry, but how on earth did the MCG make it to the top of that list? The venue is awful, both in terms of facilities and atmosphere. And not to mention the pitch is terrible. What moron at Foxtel came up with that?

Obviously written by a Victorian. The pitch has been so bad over the last 5 years that some commentators and ex-cricketers were calling for it to be stripped of test status.
The only thing going for the MCG is capacity and the guarantee of Boxing day tests. When not near capacity it is a soulless place to watch sport.

That is the first time I've ever seen the MCG at the top of a cricket stadium list.AndyWelsh wrote:It’s always interesting to get an external point of view and Fox Cricket just picked their Top 10 World Cricket venues. They say we’ve “slipped back in recent years” so I wonder if a stadium hotel will help or hinder that impression?
“Adelaide Oval has become one of the great multipurpose venues, but that has come at a cost in terms of cricket. The ground was always firmly in the mix whenever a debate about the world’s greatest cricket venue broke out, but it’s slipped back in recent years.
Nonetheless, the ground hasn’t entirely lost its charm. The St. Peter’s Cathedral is still visible, the glorious, century-old scoreboard remains on the hill and the festival atmosphere in and around the ground is alive as well. The ground has also become the home of day-night Test cricket, hosting the world’s first match in 2015 and the first Ashes day-nighter in 2017.”

With AO a possible ground for the AFL quarantined hubs idea, could/would the teams playing here use this new hotel to accommodate them? I think the proposed completion date was June with a potential AFL start date at the end of July... if its running on time it could work.

You obviously are not following the issue in the media. July looks like when the AFL season will resume.aceman wrote: ↑Tue Apr 14, 2020 9:22 pmthere won't be a season this yearhow good is he wrote: ↑Tue Apr 14, 2020 7:57 pmWith AO a possible ground for the AFL quarantined hubs idea, could/would the teams playing here use this new hotel to accommodate them? Ok aceman so you are saying its (already) a fact and not merely your opinion?
Can you elaborate who has made this decision (is it a Federal Govt/Health Dept decision)?
So even with no crowds there will be no AFL games/season?

there are no facts it's speculation. the afl are throwing possible dates around that's all. it won't happen unless medical authorities approve it.how good is he wrote: ↑Wed Apr 15, 2020 9:56 pmOk aceman so you are saying its (already) a fact and not merely your opinion?
