I'd hate to be in Stephen's shoes , the Darlington wall incident, faulty trains. Its going to be a easy fight at the next State Election for SA Labor Party
For something like that to happen I am afraid that numbers of the news corp. watchers/readers/believers needs to be a much lower.

To be fair, Darlington was inherited from the previous Labor government and based on timelines its seems that the train refurbishments were too (the actual refit started in April 2018, the election was only one month before). That being said, a number of successful ribbon-cuttings were likewise inherited from the previous Labor government, and the Marshall Government has made their own missteps (including their responses to problems with inherited Labor projects) that will no doubt be used against them.

Marshall's advantage is the handling of the COVID pandemic. People will remember that for years to come.

It can often be the after effects of a crisis where politicians come unstuck.

Like enhancing/continuing/taking advantage of the inevitable upturn that will come from SA being in such a good position.

Such as refusing to offer any assistance to government enterprise workers out of work due to COVID 19 but ineligible for JobKeeper.
Yep, I'm sure people will remember things like this.

That isn't borne out by political history for the most part. Even if people have a strong good opinion of leaders actions during a crisis, that often doesn't translate to a change in voting intention once it is over. If can even have the opposite effect where people say that leader was the right leader for that time and now that conditions have changed it's time for someone new.
The classic example is when Churchill got ditched as PM by a landslide in the UK less than 2 months after VE day.

I wonder if this relates back to the engine fire that happened a few months ago. Hopefully it's not too serious as all engines were replaced just a year or so ago.
Been two fires.
It's definitely related to that from what I've heard from those involved in sorting the situation out.

This morning's radio interview said something about sourcing new parts to replace the turbo unit on each engine. I think he said that once they get the part it's several hours work for two people to fit it. The problem is that there weren't that many spares in SA, or even Australia. I think he said 50 of the 70 units were taken out of service, and two yesterday meant ten have now been returned to service.

If they didn't sever the link to the National Railway Museum, they could have borrowed a few steam locos

The rail track has now been reconnected between the Adelaide Metro network and the museum site and the Jacketts station that makes it possible to have charter trains resume running into the museum.

Our pee wee train system is a mess. Should have been electrified decades ago and instead they go for retrofitting diesels and 2/3 of them are out of service. It then costs more money to fix them and they'll just fail again.
Then again the electrics have had their fare share of issues.

To think Melbourne electrified its rail network in 1904!
