Now that all the levels have been built, it doesn't look 117m tall at all. Its more closer to about 100-105m? The roofline of Westpac is 123m (antennae are 132m) and this certainly doesn't remotely appear to match the roofline of Westpac. Was there a variation to DA?

The roof feature is still to come which will add additional height. I do believe there is a RL height difference here too, which may impact perception of height.[Shuz] wrote: ↑Thu Aug 20, 2020 7:58 amNow that all the levels have been built, it doesn't look 117m tall at all. When comparing it to the Wingfold Tower which is approx 78m and the Sofitel was supposed to be 117m i struggle to see how its 30m heigher currently from the last picture from Light Square view.Pikey wrote: ↑Thu Aug 20, 2020 8:49 amThe roof feature is still to come which will add additional height. Driving down Port Road heading into the city, it looks like it's over 100m and not that much shorter then Westpac.

I expect difference in ground levels between Westpac and Sofitel contributes something to the perceived height differential, but I wonder if the gradient of the site itself minimises the max height. Remember that there's a whole additional level at the back of the building accommodated by the slope down to Hindley, suggesting several metres of total height might be cannibalised if measured from rear ground level rather than Currie St.

Westpac House is approximately 132 metres to the roofline of the services structure - the antenna height has been adjusted over the years but at one point the height of the antenna made the total structural height closer to 135 metres.[Shuz] wrote: ↑Thu Aug 20, 2020 7:58 amNow that all the levels have been built, it doesn't look 117m tall at all. How come all these new buildings including Sofitel and Wingfold are oriented with bigger sides being those east / west facing. I understand it’s probably the land/plots but there seems to be a clear issues with energy efficiency.

Yes you would ideally want developments on the streets/ lots that are North facing for the energy efficiency aspect.

from my view south of the city this one appears to be around the same height as the black stump and telstra. does the level of the land really fall away that much as you go down curry street??
