COM: Glenelg Tramline Upgrade
Re: Glenelg Tram Line Upgrade
Hahaha. I would say there are a few brusied egos in that place. Who gives a shit what a few brown nose journalists think at the Sunday Mail or Advertiser. They think they are god's gift in that place. Do they have a transport planning or engineering background? No! I couldn't give a crap about their opinions or back-tracking statements.
They try to brain-wash the Adelaide public, only the NIMBY's listen, most people think both papers are rags and pay no attention anyway, especially if they have half a brain. Way too much of this :wank: goes on in their offices. The extension has been built, the traffic chaos was a beat up and the line will be very successful, end of story!
Now off you go Sunday Mail/Advertiser journalists and try to find another non-issue to beat-up!

Re: Glenelg Tram Line Upgrade
Not long to go now. This may very well be the final 'construction diary' before opening day this Sunday.
New median strip being installed beyond the end of the line.
City West decalling. I only got a shot of the 'Terrace to Terrace' portion of the line, the whole line to Glenelg is listed on the main beam of all the shelters.
Finishing touches, just adding the roofing and wiring to City West.
Auto point switching gear partly installed under Morphett Steet bridge.
The old and new at the railway station.
Traffic light work at North Terrace/KWS intersection.
Wiring work at Rundle Mall.
Pirie Street name board.
New seats at Victoria Square. These have yet to be fitted to all the other stops and sit ontop of the concrete blocks already laid on the platforms.
New electrical cabinet. All stops have had these delivered and ready to be installed.
Photos of 110 testing the line coming soon.

Re: Glenelg Tram Line Upgrade
The photos of the test run of 110 are actually a comilation of two seperate runs but are sequenced starting at Victoria Square to City West and return. I am fast on my feet but not quite as quick as the tram!
Looking north at Victoria Square. 110 is on the right, 111 is forming a Glenelg service to the left.
A few shots at Victoria Square.
110 shunting after 111 departed.
111 running up Victoria Square. Compare this to the render from last year.
Leaving the square.
Pirie Street stop.
The best shot I could get of both a Beeline bus and tram in the same shot. Rundle Mall stop.
110 winding down North Terrace before entering the single track section.
Passing under Morphett Street Bridge.
End of the line. Another render comparison below.
Return run at Rundle Mall.
Outside Town Hall. Last render comparison (though not quite exact).

Re: Glenelg Tram Line Upgrade
excellent pics will409. Will definitely do a quick ride in this Sunday to have a look at the opening. Who else is gonna have a look
Re: Glenelg Tram Line Upgrade
I plan on having a look around!
Although the thing that frustrates me is that the shuttles will only be Vic Square to North Terrace according to this. Should just get them going the full "Terrace to Terrace!"

Re: Glenelg Tram Line Upgrade
I have about 40-odd pics from today and 1 movie from the Beeline. Will upload them now.
Re: Glenelg Tram Line Upgrade
Fortunately this is only for opening day. From Monday the trams will be running the full length of King William Street.sam wrote:I plan on having a look around!

Yeah, but talk about adding to the confusion!AG wrote:Fortunately this is only for opening day. From Monday the trams will be running the full length of King William Street.
Plus apparently on the Sunday the trams from Glenelg will be terminating at Vic Square, they should have got them going all the way ftw!
(ps: I'm feeling rather guilty for not posting any pics recently...)

Almost a 3-car set, with 110 switching, 107 arriving, and 105 just departed from Victoria Square.
