Apologies if this is a dumb question.... but why don't we see a core box or two above the levels on this one like in most buildings?

Let us be clear about the difference between beams and columns; beams carry horizontal loads of the floor and fixtures to the nearest column which transfers the load all the way down (vertically) to the ground and hence to the foundations. I think reason why this building does not have the service core rising above the building has some thing to do with the shape of this building. In square and rectangular buildings that are roughly the same length is both directions the service core is usually in the centre of the building and has beams attached to it and there fore it acts like a large column. In this project the floors are quite long in one direction yet relatively narrow in the other direction, so for most of the building normal concrete columns can carry the smaller loads. So in this case the service core is only used to provide a frame for the actual lift (and maybe fire stairs). if the core acts as a column then it has to be built up above the next floor so that the next floor beams can then be attached to it. so the core needs the climbing form work and the jacking system. It is though, much easier to build a core on the ground or on the current floor because you don't need the climbing system so you don't see the core rising up above the existing level of the building. Also as the core is not carry any load (other than self load) it can be made with less concrete. This would be the main reason why the core would not rise above the top level during construction in this project.

In some very tall projects the core can be anything up 10 stories ahead of the rest of the construction.

I suspect that the lack of a jump form (core box) on this site is the result of the building's longer and narrower profile compared to other high-rise buildings. The most efficient floor plate for a narrower building like this usually has the cores, elevators, service risers and the fire stairs on the ends of the building rather than in the middle.

In this case, the cores on the end look like they have been constructed using pre-cast concrete wall panels rather than cast in-situ on site. There's no need for a jump form for pre-cast installations.
