Listy
That curious wall looks like a Pile guide wall. They will drillout the foam with the piling rig auger and use the concrete to guide the pile. The wall will end up looking like the one on to SAHMRI 1 at the top of the photo.
The whole area will then probably get excavated down as the piles being that close together will form a retaining wall.
Looks like alot of digging still to do

The guide wall polystyrene will be removed prior to drilling

Nice photo.
Does anyone know how long the screw on those rigs last? Can they be refurbished or do they become scrap once they have worn out? Where are they made? Are they a single piece top to bottom or are there several bits screwed together with a cutting point on the bottom?

No idea about the longevity, but the auger/screw is made of several bits each about 5m long joined together. The center core is hollow & is currently hooked up to a cement mixer via a very long hose, so as the screw is being withdrawn from the hole its just made, it's being filled with concrete at the same time. They appear to be drilling out ~5m columns at the moment along the polystyrene trench.SBD wrote: ↑Fri Oct 02, 2020 1:06 pmNice photo.

Update 24/10/20, still piling on the upper level. Please click on picture for bigger.

Crane base is at the back left by the looks of it. It looks to be outside the future building footprint, so I'm assuming that eventually the concrete cube it's sitting on will be covered over by paving / landscaping when everything's complete. The piling rig has worked its way around the whole boundary now, just the western side to go.

They're back from their Christmas break already!
The earthworks contractor is well underway bulking out by the looks of it

Yes, as mentioned by Growl3r they are working today 4/142021. A picture from the lower level. There are 2 excavators and one bobcat in use. Please click on picture for bigger.
[COM] Re: SAHMRI Stage 2
The piling rig has departed for now & the remaining excavation is moving along at a pretty quick pace.
