Yes, vehicle access/drop off was from Gilbert Place. No porte cochère.Algernon wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 12:28 amOriginal design had 3 basement levels which you'd presume was for parkinghow good is he wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 12:23 amHas anyone seen the plans as I am curious if there is car parking and/or a drop off/pick up area for taxis/buses/vehicles ie a Porte cochere?

So much better than the design in the original renders - I always thought it looked very disjointed with the large gap between the curved top floors and the squarer podium. This looks far more cohesive and less top-heavy.

This is a good improvement on the design before. Looking forward to this getting up. Will be good to watch from Harry's Bar.

except for that missing tower on Flinders....?
Anyway, I can understand that the renders are missing QT and 80 Currie street, but at least they should have updated them to include the Sofitel....

I would expect the images/renders will be used for the marketing of the hotel until it’s built and possibly also after that. So maybe they don’t want to show the Sofitel (and inadvertently promote) their direct competition?

The "missing tower on Flinders" is still coming, but they are adjusting some of the internal layouts to suit the market.floplo wrote:except for that missing tower on Flinders....?

Maybe they just can't be arsed dong something that's unnecessary at a high labour expense.how good is he wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 6:33 pmI would expect the images/renders will be used for the marketing of the hotel until it’s built and possibly also after that. They would actually need to make a whole render of the other buildings and insert into the shot. They can't just photoshop in renders from available images because they don't match the perspective and it would make a render of their own product look like a high school project.

Why haven't they released renders of the northern and western facades?
[ONH] Re: 75-79 King William Street | 132m | 39 Levels | Mixed
Looking at the architects portfolio it seems like we can expect the final building to look similar to the renders, even their student tower work looks good.

It will probably be very similar to the previous design. The western facade will have windows like the eastern/southern facades. On the northern side there will be less glass. See diagram of the original Northern Elevation:
Where GF1 is: Clear Low E framed glazing: - powder coated charcoal.
There is no mention what FL1 is but I assume they are louvres covering windows. See here below the typical floor plan for levels 19-37.
The recesses at the ends of the hallways around the core have glass panels according to the Northern Elevation. Not sure if they are even windows. The ones I assume are windows are those over the bedheads covered with louvres. That's what Fl1 could be but not mentioned in the glossary.
Hope all this gives an idea of what the new design may look like.
Cheers

Hotel Room 5 is erm, somewhat interesting. A shower and a shitter with a view of the city's busiest intersection! You would hope the glazing is really good cos I don't think your regular punter on the street wants to see guests doing their private business.

Those ugly blinds in the renders will help block it all out
