Looks like its been value managed to kingdom come and back

The greenway between Parliament and the rest of the retail buildings looked like a nice feature. Now it’ll be replaced with a generic stale alleyway that’ll be littered with the odd piece of plastic or paper that blows in.

No worries, it'll get some industry award where other glass box companies declare this the most 'world-class' of the lotobituary resider wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 6:15 pmLooks like its been value managed to kingdom come and back

The tower will definitely get built. It's a great piece of land for a commercial tower being gifted, and getting this plaza built is the price being paid.citywatcher wrote: ↑Sat Nov 07, 2020 9:26 pmIt will certainly end up a b grade cafe area and the tower will probably never happen

We're really only getting parts of the carpark in return, given the state will be paying upwards of $200 million for the plaza and environs. Labor screwed us on this deal.Nort wrote: ↑Tue Nov 10, 2020 11:09 amThe tower will definitely get built. Pulled a few more shots from the devapp that show just how unsympathetic its massing is to the context, particularly Parliament House.

The recent cost cutting on this project wouldn't have happened on John Hanlon's watch. Unfortunately, the Liberals decided to get involved.

Am I the only one that thinks this will look better? The fact that now we have the tower ‘boxes’ at slightly different angles means each section will reflect differently in the sun. This is opposed to one large uniform box in the previous application. The floor plates are far more interesting now.

Plus the fact they are proposing to use the same materials as their parramatta square dev bodes well. I’ve seen parramatta square in person and it really looks like 1st class product

I agree, but I guess in this instance it's the unpopular opinion!!cmet wrote: ↑Tue Nov 17, 2020 1:38 pmAm I the only one that thinks this will look better? If it continues like this with no signs of trees/greenery (or any room for them) then it won’t be much improvement to the previous desolate Hajek plaza landscape.
[COM] Re: Festival Plaza Redevelopment | $800 million
Several pages back on this thread (around April 2020) there are links to all of the signed-off plans, etc. detailing exactly where all the trees and landscaping will go.

Yes I have seen the plans/renders but the actual is looking far less appealing. I know landscaping is the final part so will wait to the end to judge it.
