Singapore airlines haven’t occupied it for a longgg time
Singapore Airlines don't have any CBD office. Their office in the old Reserve Bank building in Victoria Square closed in October last year. They can be contacted at the Adelaide Airport.

Council is consulting on the revocation of community land classification for the James Place public toilets so the plot can be subsumed by this development. Consultation closes 11 December: https://yoursay.cityofadelaide.com.au/c ... blic-space

I can't imagine the revocation not going ahead but it'd be funny if the developer had to alter plans to accommodate not only a State Heritage Place but also the local shitter.

Doesn't the old Marrakech Hotel sit between the toilets and the arcade? Looks like it could be disjointed from the rest of the development. I wonder if this is at the request of the developer or if council are just looking to offload the site (given they can't even use the current upper floors).

Good. That toilet block has become a meeting place for homosexual behaviour.

The development will have a two storey brick frontage to James Place in line with old hotel. I believe It has some rights of way that necessitate incorporating it to some extent, similarly to how it has doors into the current arcade.

Application was lodged on the 23rd December for stage 1 - demolition so looks like this one is definitely going ahead and sooner rather than later although no tenants have closed up yet from what I can tell.

Vegetarian Delight in the food court has said they will be closed from 15th Feb due to the redevelopment.

Should permission to demolish a landmark site be permitted without being conditional on there being all approvals and commitment to construct a replacement? What happens if "no tenant" materialises due to 2021 increased working from home, online shopping and moving to regional "retirement" towns such as Victor Harbor or Wallaroo. Could we end up with a prominent empty block for 30 years?

They must have the lease deal or they wouldn’t be kicking tenants out for Imminent demolition.

The Federal Parliamentary Standing Committee are scrutinizing Services Australia's move to this site, which as I understand it means this will be their preferred location. Therefore this one will almost 100% be going ahead you'd imagine.
Services Australia will be the main tenant. The Federal Parliamentary Standing Committee scrutinizing the move all but confirms that.

Well if that is true then it's very unfortunate. Another Govt. agency having to anchor a building just to get it off the ground.

Would you rather they find a building interstate?
