I wouldn't be surprised if the intersection is reopened much sooner. The bridge moves at Darlington were scheduled to close the road for a full weekend (closed Friday evening, reopened for Monday morning) but IIRC in the cases of the two southernmost bridges works were completed around late Saturday or early Sunday. Granted, R2P is moving two bridge pieces instead of one, but the quick success of previous works bode well. The week-long closure is likely a safety net just in case anything goes wrong.Bacon wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 7:30 pmMajor works in early January 2021
In early January 2021, the overpass centre spans will be transported from the Polonia Reserve compound to their final location, over Regency Road, using Self Propelled Modular Transporters.
To allow for these works to occur safely and efficiently, from 5am Monday, January 4, 2021 until 5am Monday, January 11, 2021, weather permitting, there will be a partial closure of the South Road and Regency Road intersection. At completion of the overpass installation, the South Road and Regency Road intersection will reopen.
Dedicated public viewing areas will be positioned on the east and west sides of the intersection for stakeholders to view the major works. Please register your interest with the R2P Alliance via email or phone call if you wish to view the works with project personnel in attendance to explain the works and answer questions. There will be limited spaces and changes are subject to COVID-19 restrictions.

Were the roads under the Darlington bridges open immediately after they were moved in to place? Regency Road will need (partial) closure if there need to be cranes parked on it to do post-move finishing such as guard rails or welding into place.Spotto wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 9:42 pmI wouldn't be surprised if the intersection is reopened much sooner. Looks like work is progressing incredibly well on the South Rd bridge over Regency Rd.
The first span was mostly in Monday. I believe the second span goes up today

There's 6 pieces all up.
Two large ones in the middle covering the majority and four smaller ones on either end.
[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway
The second large span is loaded up and has been moved closer to the road and looks ready to roll in the morning.
[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway
Anyone aware of what the issue is at Darlington at the moment? The lower deck heading north on Monday was 80km since than it has been reduced under the flinders/Sturt road bridges to 40km.
[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway
Well Nine Adelaide has picked it up and have a story on the developments at Darlington tonight.

Interesting that they updated the status map for the Northern Connector to "Operational since March 2020" but T2T is still "Currently under construction" despite having finished 2 years before they would've updated the Northern Connector field. Also, T2D is coloured blue for completed despite still being in planning.

The last of the smaller pieces of the bridge over Regency Rd looked like it was all in place about 8.30 tonight.
All the traffic light poles were back in place and some of the fences near the eastern viewing areas seemed to have been removed, looks to be all on track for the reopening on Monday morning.

New gantries and Variable Message Displays have been installed along the southern part of the Superway, as well as South Road Northbound just before Regency Road. Most of the new road seems to be in place, so I suspect cars will be travelling on the new section and the bridge in the next 3-6 months.
[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway
Time to start counting down! This section is going to be finished this year and the government will still be scratching their heads over the final Torrens to Darlington section, the only section that they've needed to design and build themselves.
[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway
Which if they hold out long enough and lose the next election in March 2022, than they would have achieved nothing.
No plans, no design and no idea when it has come to this section besides, announcement of doing nothing.

We all know that Torrens to Darlington is going to be an election issue.
Our state, our city, our future.
