The Perth one is far better than the North Terrace one.
In fact that's kind of how I see the twin street proposal looking like.

Would take this North Terrace tower any day over that piece if junk in Perth. At least there is some articulation with this project.

Shuz I’m strangely attracted to the one in Perth as well, it kind of reminds me of a miniature version of what we have seen built near New York’s Central Park in recent times...they look like erect hot chips!
[COM] Re: 203 North Terrace | 119m | 35 levels | Student Accom
Perth has won that one quite comfortably. What a farkn abomination
[COM] Re: 203 North Terrace | 119m | 35 levels | Student Accom
The thing is both NYC and Perth have a lot of other developed and up and coming developments that make the bad fade into the background.
Adelaide isn’t so lucky and these only add the the tired brown box finish of our skyline.

People are actually comparing a building in Perth that at least looks like it was designed in the last 20 years to a building here that looks like it was designed 50 years ago and they've tried to modernize it with fins on the sides?

Yep I agree this one is a shocker and does not belong on North Terrace and especially not above a beautiful heritage building (or facade I guess now). I still don't understand why its so tall, skinny and boxy? Why couldn't it have perhaps been shorter and introduced some curves? We have so many boxes here already. I went to Parramatta at the end of 2019 and noticed they have quite a few newer builds with curves or rounded edges. Why are the buildings we get so boring?

I quite like the Perth building too - the finish will determine the overall outcome. I presume it's at least due a pressure washing before completion? I suspect the form would really suit a metallic finish but I presume it'll be raw concrete?
It would stand out a bit on our skyline (I'm not sure for the better or worse) but done well it could be a nice addition to a denser city.

It's an absolute toothpick. Here's a render for those who've forgotten what the end result is supposed to look like. I appreciate the height... but... it's hard to find anything else positive to say about this.baytram366 wrote: ↑Fri May 07, 2021 9:30 amYep I agree this one is a shocker and does not belong on North Terrace and especially not above a beautiful heritage building (or facade I guess now). I actually think its amazing that anyone is willing to pay for someone to design the mostly garbage that gets built here more so then I am surprised that anyone would want their name or company name associated with any of it.baytram366 wrote: ↑Fri May 07, 2021 9:30 amYep I agree this one is a shocker and does not belong on North Terrace and especially not above a beautiful heritage building (or facade I guess now). Often times I forget this build is costing the developers a mere $35m, before construction started I wondered how they would achieve a relatively tall building for that price... Well, it's clear now.rev wrote: ↑Fri May 07, 2021 5:19 pmI actually think its amazing that anyone is willing to pay for someone to design the mostly garbage that gets built here more so then I am surprised that anyone would want their name or company name associated with any of it.baytram366 wrote: ↑Fri May 07, 2021 9:30 amYep I agree this one is a shocker and does not belong on North Terrace and especially not above a beautiful heritage building (or facade I guess now). Wouldn't have been as bad if they used better materials

Is this building going up at 2 levels per week ?
It seems like they’re building modules off site and lifting them up with the crane.
Also surely the budget is more than $35 million.
