I have just returned home from this great day for Adelaide. Everything was great, and I am proud that I was amongst the first people to ride the extension all the way to City West. I can't wait until I am a grandpa, and there are trams back everywhere and I will be able to tell my grandkids, "I was there when they took the first step". There was almost a tear in the eye when the tram extended past Grote Street for the first time. It was a very symbolic day, as it represented the defeat of negativity.

A round of applause from me, and the words couldn't have been better - it does represent the defeat of negativity.

Anyways, I was close enough on my speculations that Mike Rann has other plans for the tram. Channel Nine coverage caught him out on his 'bold ambitious plan to reinstate trams back into the city'. I think we can take a hint that theres a proposal or some plans out on the board for a city-wide tram network, and not to the suburbs.

During the official opening speech the Premier made, he also said that they were planning of further extensions but he never said where exactly although with all the press that has surrounded other extension alternatives, I think we may already know that the plan is. Just need the official go ahead.

Our city feels like a city now. A very proud day for public transport in Adelaide. And the savings and loans tram looks pretty cool. Howver I do have some negativity - today was the grand opening, but then 5pm hit and they completely closed the extension down, while there were heaps of people waiting at the stops, expecting trams to come along. Why not start the normal timetable from now?

Mike Rann said on 7 News, he would like to see it extended back to Victoria Square

Channel 9's report was mostly positive, except that they had to put, guess who, Martin Hamilton-Smith on - will someone please put him out of our misery?

The age-old argument that $31million could have been better spent on something else.

Hows this for a change? Next time we get $31mill, lets spend it on silencing him for eternity.

Before I put on the main show, here are some shots of 102 this morning at 8:30am. Our very first all over advertising livery tram. 351-367 and 102 both made a final test run up the extension before the official opening parade.

Thanks mk, guess that was to be expected.

Wonder if he realises that if he doesn't halt progress and Adelaide becomes a place that people want to live in and visit, there'll be more then enough money to spend on hospitals etc.

It would be good if they advertise Mad March, Tour Down Under or any other event or region of South Australia on the new trams

Can't wait to see and use the new tramline this week :D, thanks for all your updates guys

There was also a massive Food & Wine festival at Elder Park today. It was packed, and apparently it went all night.

I'm gonna miss this town. Today was a fantastic day to remember Adelaide by.
