The Torrens to Darlington team have been out and about along South Road, gathering vital noise-level data to inform the planning and design phase of this project.
Noise monitors have been placed at selected locations along the project alignment, from West Hindmarsh to St Marys. They’re gathering critical baseline noise data, which will help us plan how the motorway will function and what we’ll do during construction.
Big thanks to those who’ve agreed to ‘host’ the monitors on their properties.

What is the business case for spending 10 billion on the remaining stretch of road, other than saving users 10 minutes of travel time, what are the other benefits? Was there a business case ever presented? I can't seem to find one. Some sources point to a business case mid this year .

The more I consider this grandiose proposal, the more puzzled I become- 10 Billion is a insane amount of money, especially for a economy the size of ours.

Freight and commercial traffic heading North/South through Adelaide is already and would increasingly be bottlenecked by the fact it's trying to move through what is in many ways a suburban road.

Plus most of the rest of the road has been built, any party which chose to abandon plans to complete it now would be out of power for a generation.

It is important that the design is correct - or else it will not achieve its objectives, and the massive expenditure will not be justified.

The raw numbers represent number of vehicles per years divided by number of days, so an average daily flow (both ways) over a full year. Checking the segment of South Road past the Tonsley Hotel also shows 8%, but on lower total volume it is only 3600 commercial vehicles.

The numbers you have provided do not relate the the central more commercial section, and also do not relate to the section that is about to have 10 billion spent on it. The southern expressway and indeedDarlington were very definitely provided for mainly commuter traffic, so the 8% figure is not necessarily relevant.

8 percent related to the section of the Southern Expressway south of the Darlington interchange, as the question was "... traffic coming into Darlington on the Southern Expressway...".

I found it confusing to work out which lines to pick on the map through the area of the recent Darlington upgrade. Some of them were as low as 4%. I think the one for traffic through the lowered motorway is 8.5% I was surprised to notice that the section of South Road between Sir Donald Bradman Drive and Henley Beach Road was a higher proportion, showing 11.5% of all vehicles (5000 per day) are commercial vehicles. I don't think they have total journey data to show how many are the same commercial vehicles continuing their journey.

Great video Norman.

There are 2 signs that confuse me when I drive through this section.

Northbound - there is a small sign showing which South Rd lane goes where just before you head over the Regency Rd bridge (0:43 in Norman's vid). It is placed so close to the motorway, one could be mistaken for thinking this sign is for motorway traffic, not the intersection under the bridge.

Southbound - the old exit sign from South Rd to Torrens Rd is still there even though you cant exit the motorway at that point anymore (2:28 in Norman's vid).
