Oh it’s a render I thought they actually did that to the building.
No, at the moment it's only attempted rape

Announced today, a $25m revamp of City X arcade.

I think we all suspected this since Makris Group sold the arcade, and considering how tired the whole building looks.

The plans look really good, however I'd have expected a mixed use/residential building above... Also, I don't understand why they've once again opted to hide the heritage building behind the facade on the Rundle Mall end.

Some renders from The Advertiser. Their article is behind a paywall.

About time! Though I prefer that mid 2000s look!
For starters, my avatar is the well-known Adelaide Aquatic Centre insignia from 1989.

Looks good but I don't understand how anyone can think it's looking tired already when it's been massively upgraded so recently.

It feels tired because it's so clearly under-utilized. The food court constantly sheds tenants because the rent is so high compared to the amount of customers passing through.

So recently? The completion of the last major upgrade was 16-years-ago...

It is really sad that that building remains covered over. Also note that Rebel signage is still there.

There was a flythrough on 7 News last night: https://twitter.com/7NewsAdelaide/statu ... 2664846336

It's a welcome update, but can't say they've achieved a better tenancy mix yet. No information on whether they'll be upgrading the James and Gawler Place frontages either. With the Services Australia building installing an entirely new face to James Place, it'd be nice to see City Cross similarly update.

Also, the cinema site on Hindley Street is up for sale. It's a huge allotment, so hopefully a developer snaps it up instead of another pentacostal church...

I've been in a time-warp (in Queensland), although only since 2015!

Ummmm, okay. This is under-utilized so let's do an expensive refurb to make the rent more affordable :?:

Just my opinion but this is one of the more modern arcades in the Mall precinct.

According to their website there is a stage 2 consisting of commercial/hotel/apartments. I take it won’t see more concrete plans until the arcade is redeveloped. The taller, commercial tower looks to be ~130m-140m (if render is accurate). There is a good render on the desktop website, that I can’t see on my phone.

Really? The City Cross foodcourt behind Rundle Place, Rundle Mall Plaza, and Adelaide Central Plaza's. I'd even put it behind Myer Centre. The retail sections have practically no identity to them at all.

This topic is City Cross, isn't it?
