Is the rail line going to be recessed slightly? That might help, but might be tricky now that gantries and wiring have been installed.

that bridge dont look too high, look at the height of the truck to the bridge. gotta get trains under there

but yes probs just the camera angle

so the obvious reply is..."yea just the camera angle"
Can see that the electrical wires are passing under the bridge, and I think it's fair to assume that trains will be lower by them.

You guys do realise that where that truck is parked, is not the highest point of the bridge?

The question is about double stacked freight.

What’s the point of double stacking when it’s just going to smack into the tunnel heading up to belair?

Future proofing the ARTC DIRN is a good thing to do, increasing freight productivity with taller wagons and getting run through to Melbourne on the South Line would be a helpful, even with Inland Rail (especially things like LCL freight). Also could mean if the Regency Road bridge is rebuilt or track lowered taller carriages could be used on the Ghan, like an observation car or something akin to Amtrak's Superliners.

Agree with this, but I think there is greater value in diverting freight around the north of Adelaide to remove it from travelling through residential areas and the winding Hills. This will make freight more efficient and economical.

This can leave the existing corridor for metropolitan and passenger services, such as to Mt Barker, Murray Bridge and we'll beyond.

Double-decker passenger carriages are a terrible idea and a logistical/accessibility nightmare. Accessibility in particular considering that a large chunk of Journey Beyond’s rail holiday clientele are older people and retirees.

It would be far easier for them to continue fully refurbishing and rebuilding the existing carriages, or (less likely) purchase something similar.

Received an information pamphlet about this project in my mailbox.
States that the Ovingham station upgrade is now incorporated into this project.
So, without a schedule change, the station will be complete by March 2023.

They have started demolition with mounds of concrete all along the platform.
I haven't seen an image of what to expect though.
I would hope that 10m would buy something substantial - please not just new shelters and some screens.

The concrete was sawn off the platform faces about two weeks ago during the level crossing closure.

I wonder whether the $10m cost includes the landscaping of the area under the bridge. Other station upgrades being undertaken are limited in scope, mainly platform resurfacing or new shelters.

Please keep us posted regarding a station upgrade. Virtually all stops along the line are in need of substantial rebuilding.

The recent switching of traffic onto new lanes on Churchill Road was a major milestone for the Ovingham Level Crossing Removal Project as the new Torrens Road bridge takes shape.
Once complete, the project will create a faster, safer and more efficient junction for pedestrians, motorists and cyclists - eliminating one of Adelaide’s most frustrating bottle necks.
Thank you for your patience while this important work continues.
The project is expected to be complete in 2023, weather permitting.

No photo unfortunately since I wasn't prepared for it, but you get a great view of this on approach to Adelaide Airport if landing from the north. It makes sense, but didn't realise before now just how much the overpass curves around.
