What is the significance of the roundabout in the middle of the northbound ramps? It seems like it's there to slow traffic that should be accelerating to expressway speed, but positioned so that exiting traffic can get through the roundabout at the speed limited by the ramp curve anyway.

Well it will only be like 1km from the new interchange to the top of Morphett Road. It will be quite steep, but probably quite useful.

Can't help thinking that roundabout would be more useful at the Majors Rd / Adams Rd intersection though. Can't see a need for it where they want to put it.

I'm pretty sure whichever staffer drew that plan on a paper napkin just looked at google maps really quickly, saw what appears to be a road with a T-junction there and drew a roundabout in its place. (But if you look at google maps more closely, it's just a small dirt road leading to a pistol club). Unless it's also planned to sell that land for housing, then the roundabout might be necessary ...

That land is part of the Glenthorn National Park so housing won't be happeningListy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 10, 2022 10:54 amI'm pretty sure whichever staffer drew that plan on a paper napkin just looked at google maps really quickly, saw what appears to be a road with a T-junction there and drew a roundabout in its place. Unless they're planning to make that the location of a new major entrance and car park for that section of Glenthorne, it's also next to the BMX Club and the Shooting Club which makes some sense - without having seen the new BMX track in person yet, the existing mountain bike trail carpark is inadequate.SouthAussie94 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 10, 2022 1:26 pmThat land is part of the Glenthorn National Park so housing won't be happeningListy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 10, 2022 10:54 amI'm pretty sure whichever staffer drew that plan on a paper napkin just looked at google maps really quickly, saw what appears to be a road with a T-junction there and drew a roundabout in its place. Sheltered turning lanes appear to be more appropriate for entering and exiting a couple of carparks, rather than disrupting the flow of traffic on and off of the expressway. I guess if or when it gets closer to being built, there will be a round of consultation (either pubic or internal to the department) that might pick it up and fix it.NTRabbit wrote: ↑Thu Mar 10, 2022 1:45 pmUnless they're planning to make that the location of a new major entrance and car park for that section of Glenthorne, it's also next to the BMX Club and the Shooting Club which makes some sense - without having seen the new BMX track in person yet, the existing mountain bike trail carpark is inadequate.SouthAussie94 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 10, 2022 1:26 pmThat land is part of the Glenthorn National Park so housing won't be happeningListy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 10, 2022 10:54 amI'm pretty sure whichever staffer drew that plan on a paper napkin just looked at google maps really quickly, saw what appears to be a road with a T-junction there and drew a roundabout in its place. It's a relatively wide bridge. It might be able to accomodate 2+2 traffic but not more (like the beach road bridge)

I managed to complete a full run of the North South Corridor last week, here's the new video showing the travel times and average speeds.

Why does South Road northbound rise up like that? There's nothing to rise over.phenom wrote: ↑Sun Feb 13, 2022 3:30 pmhttps://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/sou ... 016666?amp
PM announced funding today along with Premier to complete the NS Corridor (ie stage 2 (northern part) of the Torrens to Darlington section) - $2.26bn.
Not sure how many of the included pictures are new ones though.

It rises over the motorway coming out of the tunnel to save space and avoid knocking down the Brickworks shopping centre.1NEEDS2POST wrote: ↑Mon Apr 04, 2022 6:22 pmWhy does South Road northbound rise up like that? Because the corridor north of Ashwin Parade is too narrow, so the northbound surface road will go up onto the overpass directly over the northbound motorway which will rise to use the ground level road already in place.1NEEDS2POST wrote:Why does South Road northbound rise up like that? Once the motorway goes over the River Torrens they’re able to acquire UrbanStone and a few properties to widen the corridor to meet the existing T2T.
