News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
Daniel Bowen (best known as the head of the Public Transport Users of Victoria) has published an article on train punctuality around the country. Adelaide does rather well.....thanks to the small network and lower frequency of trains.

Saw this on a diesel. New bars just inside the doors.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
Just out of pure curiosity.
How many NEW electric trains are here?
I know 4023 and 4024 have entered service.
Is there a 4025-4034 sets or just 4023 and 4024 here at the moment of this post?
It's been a while since I've seen any posts or anything about new trains 4025 and above for several months.

As far as the train/tram operations bring returned to public hands. SA State Budget is in June, if Labor and their legal team find a way to break the contract without having to hand KD/Torrens Connect money it'll be win-win. Whereas if its opposite whereby State Government need to pay KD/TC to get out of the contract it will get ugly and cuts will need to be made which won't look good to Labor.

4025 has been delivered. Just after Easter I saw it in the Seaford depot yard. Shortly afterwards it was reported out testing.Jacob_ULG3 wrote: ↑Mon May 16, 2022 1:09 amJust out of pure curiosity.

Not much in the state budget.
The Port Dock extension is revived...over 5 years, lol. Plus a few minor station upgrades.

I'm not great with budget papers but it looks like the whole $51M is accounted for in the 22-23 and 23-24 estimates and completion is still expected by June 2024. Unless I'm missing something?
Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
Yes, works will start in the upcoming financial year and will probably be finished around December next year.Llessur2002 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 02, 2022 11:20 pmI'm not great with budget papers but it looks like the whole $51M is accounted for in the 22-23 and 23-24 estimates and completion is still expected by June 2024. Hi, I can't say this without sounding cynical or sarcastic or patronising. I intend none of this.Norman wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 12:01 amYes, works will start in the upcoming financial year and will probably be finished around December next year.Llessur2002 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 02, 2022 11:20 pmI'm not great with budget papers but it looks like the whole $51M is accounted for in the 22-23 and 23-24 estimates and completion is still expected by June 2024. However, look at the record of this and previous governments on delivering projects on the promised time frame.
On the basis of major projects in the past twenty years, have ANY been delivered on time? Any?
We are currently looking at the Gawler line electrification. Originally pledged to be finished by the end of 2020.
So. The people who gave us the Gawler electrification project...are saying June 2024. I say, based on the record, December at the earliest, and likely June 2025 ot later.
Shall we have a bet on a beer on whether it happens by June 2024? I offer you a carton of your favourite beer as the stake if I am wrong, vs a pint if I am right. Care to place a bet?

Regency to Pym was finished under budget and ahead of schedule and T2T was under budget and extended, and it was finished on time.rubberman wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 1:44 pmHi, I can't say this without sounding cynical or sarcastic or patronising. Those are just parts of an existing project. They weren't one-offs started from zero.Cryptic wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 2:58 pmRegency to Pym was finished under budget and ahead of schedule and T2T was under budget and extended, and it was finished on time.rubberman wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 1:44 pmHi, I can't say this without sounding cynical or sarcastic or patronising. Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
55.1 million for future rail projects in SA?
Sydney are expanding their rail at a cost of 50 - 60 BILLION. If that amount of money was converted to a per capita basis it would allow us to build both an underground CBD rail link and underground rail to Mt Barker at the same time. Even though practically both projects would most likely be staggered.
Perhaps once we finish building hospitals our rail infrastructure can start to catch up with the rest of Australia.
