Read in The Advertiser today that the new Uniqlo Myer Centre will be on the ground floor “spanning close to 1,000 sq m of retail space.”

That’s the same size as the new Dymocks on Rundle Mall or about a third of the size of H&M.

This doesn't seem right; big work for just a small space - ground level and Level 1/Upper Ground. Hopefully The Advertiser is wrong.
Maybe, I’m pretty sure they’re keeping stock in the old Rebel Sport at the minute and the new glazing goes up beyond ground level.

Renew Adelaide were seeking EOI for the level one space used by Rebel Sport maybe three months ago so I suspect Uniqlo will only occupy space on ground level.

Which Rebel Sport space though, since there were two that were slightly separated from each other.

Whoops, my bad. The front space facing Rundle Mall. It would appear the rear space on level one that Rebel used will go with Uniqlo, for what purpose who knows? It wasn’t overly large.

A couple of the old Rebel Sports in the Myer Centre today. Lots of Uniqlo stock and staff.

I thought that would be the case with H&M stuff but to be honest I hardly ever see any guys wearing it.

For me, it'll be situation normal. I've been ordering stuff off the UniQlo website for years.

While it's great to finally see a bricks and mortar store in Adelaide (and I'll definitely frequent it), I've noticed a definite decline in stock levels at their stores interstate. Given our store is looking to be quite small, anything I pick up in store will be a bonus.

The IGA on Franklin st opened last weekend - it's pretty OK and good to have it at that end of the CBD. Like all IGAs it costs a bit more than the large supermarket chains, but there seems a good selection of SA produce and it's open until late most evenings

If only someone would go into the former Harris Scarfe floors in the Rundle Place. Suprised Big W hasnt
Big W have recently owned a Sydney CBD store and now have 3 city stores - the other 2 are Melbourne & Brisbane.
I think the Rundle Place tenancy would be too big for them as their city stores are smaller format stores.
Here's what they said about their new Sydney store:

“This BIG W is 20% the size of our traditional store meaning the team has strategically curated the range for the city worker and resident. The store is very big on party supplies and gifting for last minute birthday parties and small appliances that can easily be carried on public transport.”

Maybe the ex Rebel Sport space in City Cross might be a better size? Or they could do what they did in Sydney and take part of the Woolworths site?

I just realised yesterday that Uniqlo's opening date of 24 November is the day before Black Friday.

I can't think of any big store that would be suitable for Rundle Place. I imagine the ground floor businesses wouldn't like the type of crowds it would bring in, but that first floor former Harris Scarfe space seems like it would be ideal for a bowling alley and arcade type of setup.

I work in Rundle Place and some arcade type company is currently applying for a liquor license. I can’t remember details but if I find out more I’ll be sure to share!

Based on public liquor licence applications, it will be a new SA venture by Strike, Hijinx Hotel and Archie Brothers.

The venue will be situated in the old Harris Scarfe site on level 1 it will be a beautiful development that will bring excitement and vibrance to South Australia.

This venue will be akin to a scaled down version of the Royal Adelaide Show which will be on all year around.
Sounds amazing.
