I went to their Brisbane/Toombul venue, which recently closed down because of flooding in the centre earlier this year. This type of venue will be really good for Rundle Place and encourage people into the city after hours as well - it's a bit like a bowling alley, Timezone and Dazzleland all combined in one!ChillyPhilly wrote: ↑Thu Nov 17, 2022 9:32 amBased on public liquor licence applications, it will be a new SA venture by Strike, Hijinx Hotel and Archie Brothers.bradj wrote: ↑Wed Nov 16, 2022 4:36 pmI work in Rundle Place and some arcade type company is currently applying for a liquor license. According to the Uniqlo website they have three store formats: 'Standard', 'Large' and 'Flagship'. The Adelaide store is a 'standard' which is a bit disappointing but there is room to expand up if it does well.

Disappointing considering it’s Adelaide’s main shopping precinct. Interesting too that they decided to completely reshape the Myer Centre floor plate for this rather than look towards City Cross or even Rundle Place for a simpler outcome.

Nice! Based on Holey Moley I expect it will be very successful.ChillyPhilly wrote: ↑Thu Nov 17, 2022 9:32 amBased on public liquor licence applications, it will be a new SA venture by Strike, Hijinx Hotel and Archie Brothers.bradj wrote: ↑Wed Nov 16, 2022 4:36 pmI work in Rundle Place and some arcade type company is currently applying for a liquor license. That is a far more inviting place than what it was previously.

Fit out is a bit bland (maybe wall art to come?), but nice to see it tenanted.
Speaking of better fit outs, I had thought Renewal SA was meant to be replacing the shops alongside ramp.

Some quick snaps from early this morning, hoarding coming down for Uniqlo, the store looks small from the front but goes all the way to the back of the building. The overall look of the store certainly does a lot to improve the Rundle Mall facade of the Myer Centre, that’s for sure.
Added another picture in there, not sure whether this means they’ve removed it entirely or simply hidden it, but they’ve boarded up the old Rebel Sport escalator.

I've always been intrigued how people go crazy and line up for hours just to go to a store, that when the mad rush is over the next day, everything will be restocked anyway.
The amount of people that were interviewed by the media, who said they had been to the store in Melbourne, some even flying regularly just to go to the Uniqlo store there, who still went nuts and lined up for this opening.

I like the box led signs they used. Neat gimmick, not tacky like the typical led signs.
Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail
I visited over the weekend (twice), the line moved fairly quickly and by Saturday afternoon it only took about ten minutes to get in, so maybe having a queue outside was more for the optics than crowd control. Its a smaller sized store but still has a good range.
On Friday I spoke to one of the workers and it turns out she's from Japan, probably from HQ or one of the flagship stores over there. I expected them to have some staff across from Sydney or Melbourne to support the opening, but bringing staff out from Japan tells me they're taking it very seriously. She said she was surprised how many people visiting the Adelaide store on Friday already knew about the brand. I suspect they'd have some pretty good metrics based on online ordering data, but she smiled and nodded when I said I'd stopped ordering because their sizing can be a bit hit and miss, so I'm much happier visiting a physical store instead.

Visited the UNIQLO store today. Love the actual products, but the store felt a little cramped. It’s lovely and wide facing the mall but narrows significantly once you go up the handful of stairs towards the middle of the store.
