have you been using the bridge? there's no way 5 lanes on 2 bike lanes + 2 massive footpaths are fitting on that bridge....unless the bike lanes are on the footpathsPD2/20 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 04, 2022 2:11 pmWhich bridge are you referring to? Ovingham or Elder Smith?
The Ovingham project website has a map (https://s3.ap-southeast-2.amazonaws.com ... PROVED.pdf) showing two lanes westbound and three lanes eastbound as well as shared bike/footpaths on both sides of the bridge when completed. The western ramp couldn't be completed until traffic was diverted off the old Torrens Rd carriageway at Chief St.

I have been using the bridge. I did write "as well as shared bike/footpaths on both sides", since the map legend refers to a "separated path (for cyclists and pedestrians)".marbles wrote: ↑Mon Sep 05, 2022 4:41 pmhave you been using the bridge? there's no way 5 lanes on 2 bike lanes + 2 massive footpaths are fitting on that bridge....unless the bike lanes are on the footpathsPD2/20 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 04, 2022 2:11 pmWhich bridge are you referring to? If you read recent posts on this thread you will see that there were a series of posts on Aug 31 and Sep 1 regarding Elder Smith bridge and possible duplication.

To put it another way, the "massive footpaths" are going to have a line painted on them to separate the bikes from the pedestrians. The bikes will be up off the vehicle road surface, on the same level as the pedestrians.

The Gawler rail line will be partially closed from 9pm to last service each Saturday and Sunday night between Saturday, 17 September to Sunday, 16 October 2022 (excluding the October long weekend) to safely facilitate upgrade works at Ovingham Railway Station.

I used Ovingham rail station recently and tbh it is much better than before, and the upgrade itself is more than adequate for the expected usage (with the notable exception of the grade separation).

It does look better but I feel that the minimum shelter/seating for any platform should be at least double that length.

Anyone know what the camo painted hut is at the station?
I thought it was temporary but it is now a permanent feature of the station

Looks like electrical or communications. Underneath the outside of both platforms are cabling racks. On the down side these are ducted into the cabin base.

Why has Churchill Rd not been grade separated from Torrens Rd, and Park Tce? It's not a notorious bottleneck like some corridors. But traffic will no doubt keep increasing, which will contribute to such.
It would've made sense to extend the overpass to Park Tce, and take it from there regarding any subsequent plans.

Churchill road and Torrens road are minor roads compared to Main North, North East Road, Payneham Road, Greenhill road, Fullarton road, Portrush road, Grand Junction Road Etc etc. And all of them with much higher traffic levels haven't found the funding for overpasses.
There is many overpass priorities for money before you start bypassing minor intersections.

Having the overpass extend to Park Tce would just have a negative effect on surrounding suburbs like Bowden, Fitzroy, Renown Park and Devon Park, as motorists will find alternative routes through the back streets.MT269 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 05, 2022 10:57 pmWhy has Churchill Rd not been grade separated from Torrens Rd, and Park Tce? The population in the area will increase as more apartment buildings go up, but there's perfectly good train stations within less walking distance then most people do on a daily basis throughout their homes.
Right now at the start of the afternoon peak hour, it's quicker to catch the train from Adelaide to Dudley Park, then it is to drive.
