I got on the H-Class this morning. Was running the 9:29 City West (ex Glenelg) at Victoria Square, but running about 10 minutes late and delaying other trams (before it began running shuttles), with about 3 other Flexity trams within a few minutes behind it (S107 kept pulling up behind H367 at stops, with S109 in turn right behind S107).

Coming into the Adelaide Railway Station today on the train, the 2 Flexies at the City West stop looked absolutely wonderful.

Very classy shot - well framed, good lighting and distance - with the government bldgs behind you would almost think it was European. I hope they use the H class for ages yet. They add a totally different presence to the flexity trams

Yes. We must never, never, never abandon these lovely old trams. They add wonderful character, and it's far more of a double-take to see an H-class trundling down North Terrace than a Flexity (which, of course, still looks damn good!).

Lucky b******d Bill :lol:. I was thinking of going down yesterday but had some dreaded year 12 homework to do. Today, I made a run into the city to see if they were again using the lovely old beasts back on former territory. In the end after talking to a couple of connies, pointsmen at City West and a driver on a turnaround, got no H class reported, not even after 5pm. Looks like it could have been a one off but then again, it could be the start of something here. Only keep our fingers crossed.

As for on time performances, between on time and 2 minutes late at the best. Very smooth commencment of operations.

Don't hold your breath, Transadelaide isn’t even meant to use them unless its timetabled. This is because they don’t meet accessibility standards (no duh). They have even had to put a disclaimer in the timetable for the timetabled services.

Heh... the taxi driver says he can't do a right turn from King William Street to any other street... yet he uses Grote Street as an example where you can turn right through vic square! (in fact there are two right hand turn lanes at this point!!) :wank:

You reckon they should allow hook turns for cars on king william street??

I wouldnt mind if they did....they arnt that hard to do. You have to be really dumb to crash doing it IMO.

They'd be crazy to systematically eliminate all the H class (I suspect this). In time they may be a major iconic tourist drawcard (if not already) as Melbourne and other cities (proposing trams) eliminate or don't have such trams at all.

BTW - what ARE the acceesability standards spoken of?
