I think the idea with Tonsley is to just extend it 100m or so and have a decent interchange/park and ride. The benefits should not be underestimated, because south road next to it is probably the busiest stretch of road in terms of busses apart from the obahn. Park and Ride could be used by cars travelling down the expressway.

Well what about when we duplicate the southern expressway we should have bus lanes so that buses can use it, and the exit ramp for it will take you directly to the new tonsley terminus?? However only buses can exit via this special ramp.

You guys are ripping out all the pages in my ideas book
I'm not finished with my subway project yet, but you all have identified several key areas of my plan, including running shuttles at Flinders Uni (New Route 642), scrapping the 218, T219 and 219X for buses to Flinders Interchange (Medical Centre) and then connect to Subways/Light Rail back into Adelaide.
Because of this, I'm giving you all special pre-release route maps for the above services.

It's all light rail.
If you back-track a few pages, you'll find the ledgend:
Light Blue - Ground level
Dark blue - Running under an Underpass/Is Underground
The U simply means light rail stop. It can be ground level or underground, depending what the line is. In the case of the Flinders Interchange stop, it is underground, as it is sitting on a dark blue line.

I think you'd be better off building a branch off the Belair line at Blackwood and bringing it over the top of the hills there (Chandlers Hill isn't it?) and down through Aberfoyle and Happy Valley to join up with the old Marino-Willunga railway near Reynella. That way you could have the line meet up with the proposed Noarlunga extension at Seaford Meadows/Seaford Rise, where it then follows the old route. (Unfortunately Onkaparinga Council expanded their works depot between Railway and Seaford Roads over the original route, but it's just a short detour alongside Railway Road where they've put the cycling trail. My Vision is for Adelaide to have a great Tram system. All travel within the city being free (like in Perth). This would encourage people to explore Adelaide, all of it, not just Rundle and North Terrace.
One day even a monorail, for tourists and transport during rushour. Connect it to Adelaide Oval, North Terrace, down Hindley, thorugh the mall, down Rundle, along east terrace, make its way to Vic Square and somehow get back to Adelaide Oval. Moooonnnooooorail, YES THE MONORAIL!

I also think the bus services should do something about making the buses that go down goodwood road, south road marion road and morphett road into a combined tram connector service.
So as they leave the city they should sit and wait for a tram to come. As they run the same frequency the timetables should be synchronous so this would be effective and not waste too much time.

This would requite A LOT more trams on the track though, as most of those buses already carry loads of people, and the trams are already packed like hell. I'd prefer to put them onto more heavy rail services, such as connecting the M44 to a Park Holme train stop (like I've already shown you Jimmy )

The only other way I can see of getting rail out to that area is to rebuild the Marino-Willunga line from where it met the Noarlunga line, which today would also require land acquistion through Hallett Cove and Shiedow Park and major civil works near the bigg mess of an intersection at the Reynella ramp on the Southern Expressway as it was built over the top of the old railway embankment and getting the rail from there to the cutting on the corner of Panalatinga and Old South Roads. The other problem with that route is that it doesn't provide easy rail access to Flagstaff Hill, Aberfoyle Park and so on like you would if you came over the hill from Blackwood.

I don't think Aberfoyle Park really needs a rail link, there are not all that many people living up there to sustain such a massive project. If any railworks should be taking place, it should be down to Seaford and Willunga, or to the Barossa Valley, where populations are bigger and are able to grow further. Aberfoyle Park was a stupid idea, the only real access they have is through Flagstaff Hill Road, and if people go somewhere it's mostly to Marion Shopping Centre for shopping. There is a reason the bus to the City only runs every hour or 30 minutes up there.

Atleast get the Tonsley line extended into the paddock over Sturt Rd, have walkway bridges connecting to Flinders Med Centre, and a large interchange for buses to Happy Valley and outher southern suburbs. Then we wont need to have all these F buses fighting with cars on South and Goodwood rds to the city.
By the way, I wonder if another important obstacle to the Noarlunga to Seaford extension is - where do we get enough trains to use. Building new trains is not even on the radar for Dept of Transport and theres no old broad gauge trains that other cities dont need. We can refurbish all the jumbos but I doubt if we could cope with the extension with current stock, because of the huge growth in passenger numbers that would happen. We could refurbish some old Red Hens maybe. I dont know if Transport SA know what an electric train is so Im not going there!
