So the bike friendly 3000 has been plying the root up and down from Belair for months now? Well this was the first and only time I've seen the bike friendly train on the Gawler line.

I imagine they make an effort to keep the bike friendly units to the Belair services but sometimes they end up on OH/Gawler and you ended up on one!

They've been around for a few months now

I can confirm that the bike-friendly services have been a smash hit as well - plenty of bikes being used as kids and young people go out to Belair for a day.

This isn't directly related to train operations. But I was just thinking of the toilets at ARS, and was wondering why those hand dryers get so ridiculously loud, the longer you use them.

Is this some half-assed plan from the DIT to save in gas consumption? I could swear that they can reach at least 90 decibels or higher.

Edit: I happened to board a train at Kilburn today. I checked both ways as I generally do at crossings. But my sequence was right/left, not left/right. This made a difference in missing the presence of an electric set approaching at 100kph. I was aware of the possibility of it's arrival in vicinity at the time I was crossing. I made it across about 6 seconds before it passed. I did notice the driver sounding the horn.

Whilst this is an indication to look further, and listen, I was unharmed. But it is an obvious example of the engineering fault with this line. There are trees, and fences in the way on a long sweeping curve with a track speed limit.

I honestly think that this station definitely needs protective barriers, due to the blind corner. I never look at the phone whilst crossing a railway line, and I wasn't drunk.

My point is that the crossing is dangerous, especially with the archaeic semi-stopper pattern that only sees minor stations served every 30 minutes. Unfortunately the DIT are deafer than a dead goat when it comes to suggestions.

Another potential improvement would be to have the down trains arriving at a time which is not 1-2 minutes after an up train has passed running express.

Sure it’s not for the Marion/Cross Road or South Road tram overpasses? They’re the only rail-based grade separation projects currently on the cards, would tenders really be going out for an unannounced project?

If tenders go out, there's no surprise, since the tender documents have all the details.

It would also be quite unusual for politicians to let it out before announcing it themselves.
