It isn't that great of a design, it's good but not astonishing. But regardless, it shows how lacklustre our skyline really is.Llessur2002 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 04, 2023 10:38 amI think it looks much taller than it actually is from most angles and is already surprisingly prominent from many routes into the city. I've said before that I'll take quality over height any day and I think overall this looks pretty good from that perspective.

My understanding is that the 2nd second building is at the design and planning stage with it being slated as 34-35 levels (similar floor plate). First 3 levels to essentially glass atrium type of design to allow for natural light requirements through to parliament house.

Hmm. If they were to go for 4m floor heights, could give the tallest a shake.mattblack wrote: ↑Tue May 02, 2023 3:58 pmMy understanding is that the 2nd second building is at the design and planning stage with it being slated as 34-35 levels (similar floor plate). A second tower wouldn't be so great.

If this goes ahead, I think it will just about guarantee that a number of government agencies currently based at the State Admin Centre will move to the new building.mattblack wrote: ↑Tue May 02, 2023 3:58 pmMy understanding is that the 2nd second building is at the design and planning stage with it being slated as 34-35 levels (similar floor plate). I don't think there are any 'if's about it. This is a done deal.A-Town wrote: ↑Tue May 02, 2023 6:06 pmIf this goes ahead, I think it will just about guarantee that a number of government agencies currently based at the State Admin Centre will move to the new building.mattblack wrote: ↑Tue May 02, 2023 3:58 pmMy understanding is that the 2nd second building is at the design and planning stage with it being slated as 34-35 levels (similar floor plate). When the carpark was dug up and rebuilt, a lot of below ground prep work was done to support the Festival Tower. It will be interesting to see what provisions were made for the second tower.

Well, Walker specific comments aside, I just want to make mention that Parra is more or less the geographical centre of the entire Sydney metropolitan area. As close as a centre can be to be fair. What I find weird about the skyscraper boom there is how long it actually took to happen. Whether any palms were greased to get towers done, no idea about that. But it had to happen eventually.Mr Smith wrote: ↑Wed May 03, 2023 8:09 pmI don't think there are any 'if's about it. It has now become a very prominent part of that well-known shot from the north bank of the Torrens, near the Morphett Street Bridge. This view is always evolving. Where has the time gone? It seems like a short time ago when it was 2010, the Adelaide Oval footbridge didn't exist, nor did the copper-coloured Convention Centre expansion, nor the Skycity tower, nor the Walker Corporation tower.
This was taken yesterday on my way out of the footy.

A couple of photos of the railway station side entrance to the building. Should look pretty good when finished.
[COM] Re: Festival Plaza Incl. 115m Tower | $800 million
One thing that strikes me about Station Road, particularly after dark, is that the river end is quite disconnected from the terrace end. This is partly due to the inactive length of fire escapes between Sean's Kitchen and EOS. This new Festival Square entry should inject activity in the middle on the east. But SkyCity should also be forced to use Marble Hall as its main entry or forfeit it back to the railway station.

Have you been to the casino for years? Marble Hall is an active part of the casino now.SRW wrote: ↑Mon May 22, 2023 2:31 pmOne thing that strikes me about Station Road, particularly after dark, is that the river end is quite disconnected from the terrace end.
