[COM] 52-66 King William Street | 65m | 15 Levels | Southern Cross Arcade
[COM] Re: 52-66 King William Street | 65m | 15 Levels | Southern Cross Arcade
Thanks for the positive comments!
I agree it’s coming together nicely and on its way to becoming an even better laneway than before. The brick facade looks great but I was thinking today it would have tied in more with a red brick colour like the other buildings. The other treatments they’ve chosen here (see photos) probably help explain that.
The decision I love the most is how well the main glass tower is set back. Hadn’t appreciated that in the renders but it really helps to separate itself from the “brick” laneway.

Doesn't change much, but I like how in this render the sun is apparently in the south of the sky!

Telstra will occupy the top 2-3 floors.
The building is not satisfactorily large enough to fit all Services Australia staff that were planned to be moved there; it was designed and approved pre-pandemic, which as we know changed things a bit.
Internal fitout is underway, with some office spaces already fitted with desks and workspaces.
Services Australia are slated to move in July-September.

Although this is large floorwise, it shows that this whole development should have been larger. Does Festival tower have the available space capacity to fit Services Australia ?ChillyPhilly wrote: ↑Thu May 04, 2023 8:51 amTelstra will occupy the top 2-3 floors.

The King William Street frontage looks pretty much complete

Don’t let Viny or HiTouch catch me saying this, but I wouldn’t have been mad if they had piled a few extra metres onto this one… Especially considering the tenants don’t appear to have enough space now.
With the neighbouring office building to receive its own repurpose and facelift, this strip is going to become one of the better parts to walk along KWS.

Yep, I drove past this today and agree that it looks very nice

its nice to have one new building in the main street
people complain its not tall enough, but its a low rise street when you look at it... it fits the profile that is already there

Another comment from the peanut gallery.

A shame that it wasn't a few extra levels so it could fit all of Services Australia in, but a fantastic looking building nevertheless.

Both the King William St and James Place laneway street frontages on this development are top notch. Perfect fit and well-designed. A very good addition to this important part of the CBD.

Viola. The footpath is now open and even the escalators are running inside.
The attachments seem to be playing up

Awesome photos, cheers Ursus!
Very minor point but I'm in two minds as to whether the S&McD building should have been painted a slightly different shade to more closely match the rest of the podium facade. Or is it better that it stands out? I can't decide.
Is it even painted? Perhaps that's the original render...
