From today

this rubbish building should be able to be demolished pretty quickly.

am I wrong?

if so how? rather than firing insults at anything you disagree with could you possibly respond like an adult?
How do you know it's going to be full of franchise stores?
because only franchise stores will be able to afford the rent...see Rundle Mall...
So basically talking out of your rear end again, trying to pass off your negative opinions as factual. :toilet:

ABC is right, having any amount of franchise stores in the new development is a big step away from the old Central Market Arcade which had **checks notes** Coles, Vintage Cellars, Sushi Train, Subway, and Chemist Warehouse.
the new development wasn't initially supposed to replace the arcade with another mall, it was supposed to expand the central market which has a waiting list of tenants wanting to get in

If you are aware of the Central Market having a waiting list of tenants wanting to get it, then why do you think this new development will be full of franchise stores?

because I know how this town and country operates
franchise stores will pay much higher rents than indie stall holders can afford and given the amount of money invested on this development those investors will want to maximise returns

sure you might get some shops pretending to be independent and local but they'll be owned by some conglomerate..eg Maggie Beers that sort of thing

These are fantastic angles for photos.

I've got to say, there is a certain seller's remorse when an ugly, yet familiar building is demolished. I'm strongly in favour of this development for the look and economy of Adelaide. But I've spent a lot of time going to that old dingy plaza over the years. I can close my eyes vividly imagine being in that hallway with its terrazzo floor, a relic of the mid-twentieth century. Good memories in an ugly building.

Ah man you’re getting me in my feels too. So many of my uni years were spent in and around this arcade.

Great times. Here’s to many more.

Take the roof off and damn...

It looks like a dump, with respect.

Definitely the same. I remember sitting at a kiosk eating a pretzel in the centre of the walkway while a lady in a nearby shop convinced "12 year old" me that her fragrant oils could cure cancer so I bought some for my aunty. The oils never worked but the pretzel was pretty good. Definitely a beautiful memory to behold.

Same, particularly at 'The Sultan of Swap', Tredrea's pawnbroking shop.

(Because they are relatives, not because I was hocking mum's jewelry....  )
