News & Discussion: CBD Retail
Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail
Breitling are opening a 2 level boutique in the new 60 king William.

The Hour Glass are hiring for people to start in early 2024. This could be one of their boutiques or a Rolex store as they operate them in Sydney. I’m not sure what’s with the sudden boom in luxury watch stores in Adelaide or whether we have enough demand for 3 new stores (including Tag Heuer).
Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail
I think Adelaide has a bit of an untapped market for high end watch brands. These brands wouldn't just open without doing a significant amount of market research, so it's good to see they have confidence in the local market.Ben wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 10:04 amThe Hour Glass are hiring for people to start in early 2024. Looks like we're getting the final glimpse of the once wonderful Myer Centre, sadly.

Uniqlo is looking at opening a second store in Adelaide, most probably at Westfield Marion. The city store is very busy and they regret not going up to the second level which was apparently still under lease to Rebel Sport when they negotiated the lease. They may even consider moving to a new location.

Can they not expand up to the second level now? It's definitely on the too small side. Much more cramped than even the "local" style stores in Japan (when international stores are generally closer in format to the "flagship" style) and lacking in range particularly in the mens and kids departments.
Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail
HnM have the same issues. Is there more demand for them to expand? I feel they are less exciting.
We just need a strong Zara presence in the city now as well.

There's a few exhibitions coming that will use the former Rebel Sports space, like Banksy. Maybe they will look into the into the future?Nathan wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 9:54 pmCan they not expand up to the second level now? It's definitely on the too small side. There are a couple of spare large tenancies available at Marion - the former space occupied by JB HiFi (they have moved to a large store) and the space where the bowling alley was.
Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail
Not that long ago some would have said there wasn't a market for high end luxury cars, yet there's more Mclarens, Ferraris etc on our roads then ever before.Ben wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 10:04 amThe Hour Glass are hiring for people to start in early 2024. Calibre are moving back to Rundle street which is the third retailer from Adelaide central plaza to move being Cue and Veronika Maine. With Lululemon moving out of the center too they have lost a lot of big tenants. I assume they have a plan as there are no for lease signs up. If Body shop also move that will be the entire western ground floor area vacant. Big enough for something decent.

The new RM Williams store in Rundle Mall is looking good inside. Stock was arriving this morning.

Cos would be a good fit for ACP/Mall, and would probably need equivalent two shop fronts (Lulu + Calibre) for an average store. Or maybe Polo Ralph Lauren.Ben wrote: ↑Thu Aug 10, 2023 7:09 pmCalibre are moving back to Rundle street which is the third retailer from Adelaide central plaza to move being Cue and Veronika Maine. Do you know where Calibre's going? Have to say, Rundle Street is establishing the strongest retail mix it's had in years. It's a boutique destination again, though could still do with some more menswear or upmarket brands (e.g. Venroy, A.P.C, Reiss, Bec + Bridge, Camilla and Marc etc). Sub Type is also still a little isolated.
