Tourism will recover, as people will inevitably and many have already started to travel again. And with that airlines will return and new ones will start flying here. Ticket prices will come down in time again.

I agree that tourism will bounce back up. The exception is likely to be China. Australia is seen to be hostile, so Chinese tourists aren't returning.

We shouldn't be reliant on one part of the world for tourism, so that's a good thing as it will force our tourism industry to diversify and target other regions. Just like our wine industry and others have had to diversify due to Chinas trade restrictions.

It doesn't worry me so much, but I get annoyed thereafter when people complain about SA's poor economics, and why can't we afford this and that. I perfectly understand people saying how they don't care about the money, because some principle is more important. My problem is then if they go and complain about stuff we can't have because money is tight. They are usually the same people who want tax cuts and then complain about poor government services.

Who knows, with an aircraft capable and a new CEO that may not be so fixated on running international flights out of SYD and MEL, and to a lesser extent BNE, perhaps Adelaide finally will see a Qantas flight with an international flight number.

Most of the big cities within that range are already covered by other carriers. Been looking at flights through Hong Kong for work and doesn't appear to be options yet for the previously touted return to service of Cathay Pacific from November directly out of Adelaide. You'd think they'd have options three months out form commencement...

Wouldn't call it an upgrade anyhow...the first flights with the Boeing 787-10 are:
SQ279 DEP SIN 23:40 SUN, OCT 29 ARR ADL 09:05 MON, OCT 30
SQ278 DEP ADL 10:35 MON, OCT 30 ARR SIN 15:10
Probably a few pissed off pax already booked on the Airbus A350-900 transitioning to a tighter cabin and more Economy pax while Business class loses 4 seats.

Singapore Airlines have looked at maximising their returns on this route and obviously looked at their costs. A real pity as more capacity and a slightly tighter seat is not conducive to a great Economy experience. Not saying the Dreamliner isn't a great plane. It has its advantages over the Airbus 350 like the air you breathe, although the Airbus 350 does get close in that regard and definitely better than Boeing's current 777 offerings. My main issue with Singapore Airlines is that second service run only in December and January. We need that year round especially good for those wanting to travel onwards to Europe with a short layover. Is there much of a difference between Singapore Airlines setups on both aircraft other then the tight squeeze for economy class?

I've flown on the A350-900 out of Adelaide with both Singapore and Qatar and found the experience to be top-notch every time.

I think the passenger to toilet ratio is slightly better on the A350. Happy to be corrected though.
