It is completely possible for a government/party to be fiscally responsible without abandoning long-term aspirations and visions around what makes a city more livable. The former doesn't bother me, the latter does.

I thought events like gather round, Adelaide 500 and liv golf made Adelaide more livable.
Lacks of things to do is perhaps the biggest complaint potential, but mostly ignorant, interstate tourists have about Adelaide.

It's the perception that there's nothing to do outside of major events.

Like it or not SA is still catching up financially after a couple of lost decades due to the State Bank disaster, and decline of local manufacturing.

We're still playing catch-up, projects like the NSM should have been finished 20 years ago, and like or not until it's done, it will consume most transport funding. And rightly so too, as it's desperately needed. And at this point, with the cost of borrowing increasing globally, now is not the time to borrow beyond our means.

Hopefully when the NSM is complete we can look at some longer term fixes, like how it connects with the SE freeway, and some kind of underground link through the city. To be fair to the Liberal government, they did have this on their long term strategy papers, but it was buried at least 20 years away.

The Government seems to have worked out that it needs to train people in various trades and professions to build submarines and surveyors to subdivide all the greenfields for housing. It's less obvious that it has also worked out that it needs to train and educate lots more health professionals (including nurses, occupational therapists, aged care etc), create a career aspiration of GP (rather than "oh - you're only a General Practitioner") and all the other trades needed to create a home on a vacant block.

Property developer submits plans for six-storey block featuring 23 new apartments in Norwood

A popular eastern suburb could have a new apartment block built right in the heart of the commercial precinct.

A property developer has submitted an application to build a six-storey apartment block in the heart of Norwood.

The building – located at 82 Osmond Tce – would include 23 apartments across five levels and the redevelopment of the Hungarian Club of SA community facility on the ground level.




A car park would also be built at the rear of the facility under the proposed plan.

The proposed site is just a stone’s throw away from The Parade and Norwood Oval.

The development is focused on the provision of high-end apartment housing.

It would include five two-bedroom apartments, 16 three-bedroom apartments and two penthouse four-bedroom apartments.

The Hungarian Club would feature a restaurant and function room on the club’s existing site.

It's right around the corner/abutting the Orta apartment development. Except for the chemist, this corner of The Parade/Osmond Tce will look very different in a few years. We need many more like this on main streets.

Good to see. The Parade is perfectly positioned for projects like this. Hopefully we see a tram going up there one day.

Of course, with all these developments, a tram is really needed to keep the extra cars from choking the Parade. The track should be constructed before extra car spaces and apartments are built. If not, it's going to be hell for Norwood residents while tracks are built. Oh wait. Those residents voted against trams in 2018, when the tracks could have been built before the influx of cars and people. I guess they'll have to live with it then.

You guys are kidding your selves if you think the people who are going to spend big on these apartments are the sort of people who use public transport.

It's a completely different demographic who have almost no chance of giving up their high end luxury vehicles.
