Is that another near new tallest?
Hope the design is ok? Sigh

Given the SA Government requirement for Parliament House to be as visible as possible, the height of the lowest few floors are likely to be very high to allow for this (also reflected in the early works in the basement which are probably structural modifications to suit), so there is a good chance this one will be more than 152m tall.

Has there been no wiff of a design for this?
[COM] Re: Festival Plaza Incl. 115m Tower | $800 million
Not sure on the height of Parliament House, but let's assume it's 20 metres; completely open foyer for views of the back of Parliament House, plus 35 levels on top of that - as AG suggested if the floor heights are 4.25m which is what Festival Tower is, this would definitely between the 150-170m mark. Massive build. My gut feeling tells me though it's likely to be 155ish given close proximity to flight path. Masonic Lodge proposal is at maximum PANS-OPS height limit of 187m for that site.

Yet the most interesting side of the building is blocked by trees.AG wrote: ↑Fri Nov 24, 2023 9:15 amGiven the SA Government requirement for Parliament House to be as visible as possible, the height of the lowest few floors are likely to be very high to allow for this (also reflected in the early works in the basement which are probably structural modifications to suit), so there is a good chance this one will be more than 152m tall.

They 100% will block Parliament House. They’ve shown they care for little but max profits.

This. It will be an unremarkable development done on the cheap for maximum return with very little regard for surrounds - the Walker way.Ben wrote:They 100% will block Parliament House. They’ve shown they care for little but max profits.

That northern side of the parliament is pretty unremarkable compared to the north tce side, which is obscured by trees.ChillyPhilly wrote: ↑Fri Nov 24, 2023 9:24 pmThis. I reckon the bigger issue will be how much overshadowing will a second tower cause over parliament.

I mean, it'll be remarkable. It may be a new tallest. And remarkably, might even be fucking built. And also, in quite remarkably the worst possible position...ChillyPhilly wrote: ↑Fri Nov 24, 2023 9:24 pmThis. Given there’s so much space for this height in our CBD, it’s a real shame
[COM] Re: Festival Plaza Incl. 115m Tower | $800 million
I love how residents get all up in arms when a development happens on Rundle St, but when Walker proposes one in front of our Sunrise weather report snapshot, not even a whimper.
[COM] Re: Festival Plaza Incl. 115m Tower | $800 million
So very nimby.
Where are the residents from north Adelaide who played a big role in stalling 87 OConnell for almost 35 years?
If it doesn’t effect then, no one cares. The sad truth of the matter is that this will most likely be a very basic tower hardly worthy of a post card shot

IMO the new building has activated what was a wasteland of old concrete and faded "sculptures" - that time has passed.
Having Flinders Uni in that location will activate the area with young people and cafes etc.
Why not wait and see the design before criticising it? At least Walker build something, unlike the many failed proposals for the CBD in the last 4 years.
