The government will spend another $34 million on the Festival Centre to upgrade its fire system to current standards, which inexplicably wasn't done when the Centre was closed for more than a year during the last upgrade.

Of note, "additional work would be done to improve the plaza’s connection with Elder Park and provide a “seamless integration”." I can only hope this means revisiting the ramp/former amphitheatre area, which is a total failure that disconnects not only plaza from park but the promenade from shell to shell. Add to that, the carpark entrance on King William Road is an astonishing pedestrian hazard on what's supposed to be a significant connection from city to park.

*Looks at Dyson Airblade Factory* "I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit, it's the only way to be sure"

I was looking through the documents relating to the tower the other day and if my calculations were right, I believe this one is actually closer to 120 meters

Vale indeed.
The loss of an astute businessperson and a creator of significant buildings and developments.
Not sure if his passing will affect the prosed second tower - I guess when the veil of secrecy is finally lifted, we will find out.
A photo of the two structural columns that are next to Walker tower.

Do you think they are for this second tower?
And if so will construction start quickly? I’m assuming they’ll have li is tenants for it

Pretty certain the columns are for the second office tower. Having undertaken structural design of other high-rise buildings myself previously, the size of the columns is large and definitely not for just a 3 level plaza building. Looks sized for a 30-40 level office tower at first estimate.

Well personally I hope this is the case. Finally something modern to block out that grotesque visual obscenity that is the Stamford Plaza. Along with the Myer Centre, one of the most hideous looking buildings in the CBD

Well if word of mouth is anything to go by, I've heard from union rep mates (quite some time ago mind you) that it was a two tower project (perhaps it always was).

If they are doing this, then we better be getting something even half way special. I don’t mind tower 1 but for such a location it needs to be wow to excuse them even building here.

I would go as far as saying that if they are trying to sneak a second tower in instead of the lower restaurants/bars that were presented and are more more in fitting with this being a public space, that it should be more of an open tender/offer for bids from multiple parties.
That won't happen however since both governments have clearly been getting some kickbacks from the developer to throw public open space to them.

Absolutely, it's a bit gross.
