BIG NEWS! We are thrilled to welcome today's announcement by Emirates, that DAILY services to Dubai will resume from Monday 28th October this year!
Emirates’ EK440 will arrive in Adelaide at 8:50pm, and depart for Dubai as flight EK441 at 10:35pm. The non-stop service will operate on Emirates' Boeing 777-200LR.
Offering passengers Business and Economy Class cabins, tickets can be purchased at www.emirates.com, Emirates Sales Offices, or via your travel agent.
This much missed service will significantly increase connections between Adelaide and many European destinations. We can't wait to see Emirates back in Adelaide skies soon!
Our state, our city, our future.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
The B777-200 are the oldest planes in the Emirates fleet, approx 14-17 years old. Emirates have 60+ A350 on order, deliveries commencing later this year I believe. They also have orders for B787-10.
Both these planes are ideal to service Adelaide and I think it will not be too long down the track and the 777-200 will be swapped out

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
Whilst still sub-par, the one we're getting is actually the best of Emirates 777 biz offering. The other 777's are 2-3-2 with the dreaded middle seat.
Rumor has it that Emirates have decided the first batch of A350's will be configured for medium-haul routes only, they will not have a crew-rest & will have first class - therefore we wont' be seeing them in Adelaide any time soon.
Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
You won't see an Emirates 787 in Adelaide unless they send it via Singapore - the 787-10 doesn't have the range to make it DXB-ADL direct.Mr Smith wrote: ↑Tue Feb 06, 2024 6:24 pmThe B777-200 are the oldest planes in the Emirates fleet, approx 14-17 years old. Apparently the other 2 on the hit list are China Southern and Cathay Pacific to make a return.
Still trying for Qantas to have overseas connections again, might be waiting a while for that one.

Batik Air Malaysia has finished its Adelaide/KL service, effective immediately.
Batik Air Indonesia has scaled back its Adelaide/Bali service to 2 per week.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
Batik Air were always going to struggle KUL - ADL when they're competing head-to-head with Malaysian as a full service carrier. Just checked the MH website and if I'm flexible with dates I can fly to KUL return for just over AU$1100 in March. Batik Air was also offering seven hours in a narrow body plane, not something I'd be that keen on. Looks like they are directing at least some of that capacity to Canberra - Bali from June, where they will enjoy a monopoly, and based on Canberra's weather that time of year I expect will see pretty good loads.
This doesn't bode well for anyone (i.e. Qantas) starting an Adelaide - Singapore service anytime soon, especially when SIA are increasing to 2 x daily permanently next year.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
And I'd be very wary if Qantas did that. I was in Darwin when Qantas (via Jetstar) came in and undercut Philippine Airlines on the DRW-MNL route. Then, when Philippine Airlines gave up, Jetstar also dropped the route. Given that Qantas has ignored Adelaide internationally for twenty years, I'd be very suspicious if they started now. SIA has been pretty good for Adelaide internationally.Saltwater wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2024 8:53 amBatik Air were always going to struggle KUL - ADL when they're competing head-to-head with Malaysian as a full service carrier.
